8 - Pedri

Why is there even such a big response to his game tonight? I dont think he deserves to be singled out. As a team we had an okay away performance, which had 0-0, 1-0 or 1-1 written all over it (could have had a penalty etc pp) - all acceptable results. Umtiti sank us. Prime Barcelona would have probably gotten the draw. Shame.

Prime Barcelona would dominate this game
Sevilla is in good form, but come on, they are nowhere near good enough to be a problem for prime Barcelona.

Change Pedri and De Jong (two of our best players atm according to this forum?) for Xavi and Iniesta and you would see 70/30 possession, Alba and Firpo pushing forward as much as they wanted, and Busquets+CBs intercepting hopeless Sevilla balls and restarting attacks. Griezmann and Dembele (and Messi) are also very much to blame, but I think a large part of the problem lies in the midfielders being too free to roam and not connecting well enough.

Today Pedri looked tired, lost the ball quite a few times unnecessarily, didn't win the ball when he could. I don't think he should be singled out as the worst player, but he had a pretty bad game, and Barcelona should rely on their midfielders.

Thats pure entitlement. Prime Barcelona with Firpo-Minguenza-Umtiti-Alba would have done well to get the draw tonight bar some supernatural Messi, Iniesta or Xavi performances. Thats not the standard any player should be jugded on.

Defense didnt pull their weight today. Thats the story of the season. We cant concede like that. Otherwise it was a pretty even match, whcih is fine playing a tough team like Sevilla. They deserve credit as well.

Saw on Reddit that everyone was prasing him. Good to hear he's back.

I saw at least 4 big mistakes from him.
He played a perfectly weighed pass to get Messi free, but the path was very clear.
Other than that he was decent, calmly combined centrally with Puig and De Jong in an already won game.

That was legit Xavi pass, the way he paused, waited for the run and then the perfectly weighed pass...

It was, and the reason Xavi was great was not for these passes which he made once in a while, but for the 90-110 other passes he would make with >95% accuracy per game, getting the ball into the right space in the right time.
This was an obvious pass, which any professional player should see and attempt. This time Pedri played it perfectly. Great!
