Calma, calma
BBZ with this argument that it is easier to score these days again.
Barca and Real are scoring more as they have two of the greatest goal scorers of all time in each team.
Messi will be Argentina top scorer ever, Suarez already is Uraguay top scorer ever and there is a good chance Ney will be Brazils top scorer.
This argument is just a joke and would give more respect to players if they scored less.
Has any player in the Barca attack bar Messi, Suarez and Ney broke 30 goals in last 10 years? One?
Totally degrades Messi goals etc to argue these lies time and again.
Pretty sure Barca and Madrid's scoring rates hadn't reduced in the periods when Messi and Ronaldo were injured.
Looking at average goals per game for the league and comparing it to previous years is not enough. You need to look at the standard deviations too. Yes, it's definitely easier for the top teams to score more goals nowadays. Because the top teams can hoard the best talents nowadays unlike in previous generations. This means that not only do the top teams get the best players but the lower teams also lose their best players, i.e the top teams are better and the lower teams are worse. This can minimize the increase in goals scored per game over a 380-game season.
