It's pathetic the way his supporters have tried to paint this as some form of persecution or political move. It might make more sense, had Terry not been stripped of the England captaincy simply for the allegation, let alone any proof, as in the Suarez case. Whether he is 'a racist' or not was never the issue, the issue was whether he racially abused Evra, which is practically irrefutable. His own version of events is practically an admission. The video support's Evra's claims almost perfectly, right down to Suarez pinching his skin and referencing it's colour, and those he 'doesn't talk to'. Even beyond that, I don't know why anyone would want to defend him in the first place. He's been an odious little cunt from the moment he burst onto the world stage. I hope he goes to PSG, I see the excuses for him are already lined up.

I'm sure they were happy for blacks to move up the ranks in the army, dude most the blacks died fighting in the war of independence for Uruguay. of course the black populations actually declined, and significantly so I would say.

yes they gave incentives to Europeans to immigrate, but come on. Seemed rather fishy that a huge chunk of black uruguayn population would fight the war for independence and also die in the process, thus decreasing the black population of a country that wanted to give incentives to white Europeans to come over.

anyway, that is my view on that point in history. Feel free to disagree with it.

I can't be ar$ed to get into a long discussion about it as if I'm back in my Latin America class years ago in uni.

I've studied race in Latin American in detail in history/poli sci classes back in uni and I have a hard time shutting up about this subject.

It was actually tolerance in the military (which quickly would change years later sadly as the armies of Argentina and Uruguay became reactionary) that was the big reason a lot of Africans joined the army. It was an opportunity for them to gain influence and the military was a lot more culturally mixed than the increasingly European society in the cities at this time. This was a reason in Argentina many blacks, mestizos and mulattos sided with Rosas during the civil war.

But from what I've seen in my research (it's been 3 years so forgive me for not having the numbers anymore), the black population of the Rio de la Plata actually remained remarkably consistent during this time and was more washed out by Italian and Spanish immigration than by decline. Most of those who died in the wars of independence were single men to begin with.

You aren't going to convince Suarez he did anything wrong. Until one of his own black teammates condemns him this is just going to be a bullshit story that never ends. It's not right but people are going to be fiercely protective of their own cultural ignorance. and the fact is that a lot of the condemnation coming from the English does in fact reek of paternalism.

Suarez was punished, if he does something that stupid again he should get a worse punishment. There's nothing more that can be said about it, quite frankly the sooner he leaves England the better because let's be honest here, if this happened in Spain fans would have jumped to his defense even harder. It's absurd, I know it, you know it, but it is what it is.

You are right,his punishment has nothing to do with him beeing a racist or a cunt.It was EPL's way to make him an example for the others.Although i hate racism i believe that words like that and even worse are said between players during the game and it should have stayed there.Who hasn't played football without cursing or getting angry even with his own friends?

And even his reputation isn't particularly good in these forums i believe he would be a good addition to our squad although his character is a bit problematic..
