at least a 100? I don't see him going for any more than 90m tbh.

I don't like saying this but may be we can involve Asexis Sanchez in the deal, simply because he doesn't fit in our system, even though he is Asexis.

Suarez is a Barca fan so if it came to us vs Real he might choose us. Though Madrid have been working on this for sometime and would come up with a better bid from a Liverpool POV.

Not necessarily, if Liverpool sells Suarez they will be loosing their best player and are certain to be looking for his replacement if they want to stay competitive. Real can offer them Benzema, we can offer them Alexis. But not only is Alexis a better player, they've already got their main CF in Sturridge, but they're currently lacking a WF who can play on the other side of Sterling and Alexis can be that player.

This reminds me the days when Laporta wanted to sign Backham. The news was all over the place, newspapaers were claiming it was a done deal and then bam... he signs for Madrid.

I'm fine with this, as long as we get a new Ronaldinho :pep:

Few certainties for me :

- the club has made contact with the player, his agent and his club
- he'll cost a fortune but hey top class strikers were always really expensive
- liverpool is interested to some degree in Alexis

If it is true that he preferes Barca more than rm then it means good news for those who want him here.
Barca cannot and shouldn't let him go to rm since Cristiano / Suarez / Bale will make them stellar in the offensive compartment.
Lucho seemingly wants a 9 and honestly I think Suarez is the best we can get right now.

Thus it remains to settle for the transfer sum and whether Barca wants / can include Alexis in it. If not it is very diffcult for me to believe they will pay that much for a striker when we need defenders and midfilders so badly or that they could force Pedro / Tello or both in the transfer.

Beckham was at the moment of his rm transfer more a marketing tool than a top class footballer and imo that is why he got there because there was his place.
In Suarez case I think it is quite the opposite of that situation.

Well, I think that Lucho counts on Roberto for next season. I find it very unprobable that we'll sign another midfielder, especially not Koke since we'd have to pay 60m and nothing less.

I don't see our board spending big on defenders either, as bad as it is but I cannot imagine that we really put 45-50m on the table for Benatia or more than 30m + Alves for Marquinhos. We'll end up with Mathieu and maybe another decent but not world-class defender, I assume.

Suarez would be a worldclass signing with much more benefits than we actually think. He would literally save the board's ass. A player like Suarez will make most of the fans happy which somehow secures the boards places at the club.

I'd rather buy defenders than Suarez but to me it is very unlikely and I'd rather buy Suarez than saving the money for the stadium or other areas which have nothing to do with sport.

IF-a very big if-we actually sign Suarez, where will Messi play? Suarez is definitely neither a false 9 nor a winger. He should play a real 9. So Messi back to right wing? Or we start playing 4-3-1-2 now? I believe tactically it may work, but beware of an angry Messi.
I have a feeling that someone hasn't thought it through.

Messi doesnt seem to be angry when he plays for Argentina. He actually love the system they've adopted.

I'd play Messi behind Suarez. Messi was pretty much alone in the centre throughout the whole last season. It was impossible for him to make an impact when 4 players attack him. Suarez is a constant threat, he has to be marked. At least 2 players would have to concentrate on him which makes room for Messi. Even Neymar will force the opponent to mark him if he wouldn't be so isolated on the left wing. Put him a bit more in a central position and the opponent's defence will be more open which allows Messi to break them apart  (of course don't forget Neymar and Suarez who can cause danger every time they have the ball)
