Suarez played on the left a couple of times at Anfield.
Though if Lucho is not stupid, he convinces Mess i to play on the wing and make space for Suarez in the middle.

we can switch from our normal 4-3-3 to a 4-3-1-2 or 4-3-2-1 like:

suarez hasn't really played on the wings since his first season.

ideally IDEALLY. if u really wanna get the most out of them. DIAMOND.

this way both neymar and suarez are played in their real positions and not winged out. but this system relies on rakitic doing alot of defending and a 19323892 level increase in tempo from last season's borefest.

and before you go on about hur dur tiker taker pep etc. we practically played a diamond in 2011 and that was (For me) our best year. and its the only formation that the front 3 are familiar with. messi and suarez have played it in those positions and (dunno about santos) but we can make more of neymar centrally because alba and iniesta do the leg work on the left.

just get benatia and a defensive rb (maybe bartra) and the whole thing will work wonders.

but i'm almost certain lucho will just keep doing wht tata did and throwing long balls to wingers to cross it in the midget messi.

Essentially our formation with Guardiola was a diamond anyway with the striker being an actual midfielder ("false 9) and the wingers being actual strikers. It's the formation that makes most sense in terms of using the available space and I'm 100% sure Lucho will reintroduce that.

That video from Cruyff is pretty informative although I don't agree with putting a "real" striker instead of the CAM and prolly he just said it not to piss off his fellow countrymen

I think Lucho might do what you proposed, actually. I doubt he'll repeat tata's mistakes.

i used the video for the way he talks about the midfielders doing what wingers do anyway without having to throw men out on the wings. that's where the diamond really gets working, allowing the midfielders to operate with creativity and mobility.

It shouldn't really matter where they play on paper. Suarez and Messi should be constantly switching positions during the match and making space for each other and their teammates.

With Liverpool and Sturridge it was more or less the same. Sometimes Sturridge was in the middle, then Suarez, etc.

I don't think we're going to buy someone for nearly 100 mio who is just going to give width on the right and work for Messi. Alexis would do that, but Suarez certainly will not.

nobody here expects anyone to play second fiddle to Messi, thats just foolish. Suarez is argubly the 3rd best player in the world, while Alexis was not... Suarez will get his while Messi geta his too, as long as their egos dont crash were good.
