Well, at least now we can put the debate to rest. Suarez has officially surpassed Brazilian Ronaldo at Barcelona. With 5 games remaining (including the Copa del Rey final), Suarez reached 49 goals. In terms of assists, Suarez is way ahead of him. And also surpasses him in titles. It's something I thought no one would achieve in my life-time.
Ronaldo: Copa del Rey (1): 1997
UEFA Cup Winners' Cup (1): 1997
Supercopa de España (1): 1996
Suarez: La Liga: 2014–15
Copa del Rey: 2014–15
UEFA Champions League: 2014–15
UEFA Super Cup: 2015
FIFA Club World Cup: 2015
Ouch.
With a similar logic, Neymar was better in the last season that Ronaldinho and Etoo.
Again, football is different today and Barca is filthy rich.
So, we aren't winning 2:0 or 3:0 against a midtable La liga team anymore, but more often 5:1 and 7:1.
Because of too big differences between Barca/Real against Getafes and similar, top scorers from top teams will have inflated stats.
The other option is that:
-- Neymar is better than Ronnie, Rivaldo and Etoo (lol, lol, lol. Just lol)
-- Suarez is better than Ronnie, Rivaldo, Etoo, Ronaldo the Brasilian
-- Cr7 is better than Ronnie, Rivaldo, Etoo, Ronaldo the Brasilian
When you write it down on paper, it turns out:
1. Messi has the highest stats by far (ok, we can all agree on that)
But here comes the problem:
2. 2nd best player of the current generation, CR7 has better stats than all other players in the history (Ronnie, Ronaldo the Brasilian, Rivaldo, Etoo)
3. even a clown like Neymar can get better stats than more or less any player who has ever lived and played football
4. further, now even Suarez has better stats than more or less any player who has ever lived
5. and a player like Bale has somewhat similar goalscoring stats like Ronaldinho and Rivaldo
So, you should ask yourself?
1. is it possible that 4 best Fcs who have ever played football (according to stats) have luckily existed in the same era (2010-2020, roughly)
2. or they aren't actually the best players ever, and something is wrong/inflated with numbers from current players?
Ronaldinho, who was a better player than both Cr7, Neymar and Suarez scored:
-- 22, 13, 26 and 24 goals in Barca's seasons
So, again, either he was just a crappy scorer or something is different in Ronnie's era and in a current era.
Neymar is already at 39 and 28 goals in the last 2 seasons. And the season is not over yet.
So, this Neymar is according to stats a MUCH BETTER player and scorer than Ronnie?
I mean, seriously, lol.
I told the same 1 year ago on Neymar's page, but in those days people had much bigger faith in Neymar and a majority disagreed with me that stats from the current era are inflated.
But anyway, remember this, and I am willing to bet with anyone:
MAJORITY of future Barca's/Real's Fcs whom these 2 clubs will buy in 2020, 2025, 2030 etc will have better stats than Ronnie, Etoo, Rivaldo.
Because these top teams will be richer and richer and we will have more and more matches like 7:0 and 8:0 against Getafe and Levante in each season.
Will that mean that those future players are ALL better than legends from 80s, 90s and 00s?
Add some logic...
If too many players from one era have too good skills, then something must be wrong, right?
Circumstances have changed.
While I adore Suarez, but please...
I mean, Ronaldo scored 47 goals, and a f***ing CR7 managed to score more goals for the last 6 seasons in a row, lol (53, 60, 55, 51, 61, 47).
You don't have some doubt and questions over your head when looking at those stats?
Ronaldo the Brasilian, in his only Barca's season:
And Cr7 is better than that and Ney came close to that in the last season? Hmm, ouch...
And Bale is as good (according to stats) as this guy (last round of the season, we needed a win against CL-finalists Valencia to reach a Champions league spot. It was 2:2 in the 90th minute):
