9 - Robert Lewandowski

He has actually done better against big teams than small teams for Barca.

On average, he has been at his best against the big clubs.

Only Messi and Ronaldo have more goals against big clubs. No one else is even close to RL9 in stats against the big name teams.

Despite the vitriol directed towards him, he has saved Barca countless times. Imagine if Barcelona actually had Prime Robert Lewandowski. It would be over for the rest of Europe.

What about all the games Barca lost this season where he was anonymous and didn't score?

Is this more modern football fan hyperbole. He 'always scores' when he clearly does not a lot of the time?

People are getting giddy in here due to his goal, but it is probably more down to surprise than anything. He can still 100 percent fuck it up in future games.

Don't shoot your load too early.

What are you trying to argue here? That he's old? That he's not in his prime? Obvious stuff. Manages to remain a top scorer in LaLiga at 36 ahead of Mbappe.

Lewa's done damn well this season despite his rather obvious shortcomings, mostly due to age.

34 goals 3 assist.

I said 25-30 before the start of the season, he's about to blow that out the water.

If we win the league/CL this season, with what he's offered, 0 regrets in signing him, could not have gotten a better striker than him at the time we got him.

Like i said in the Alvarez topic, there is a reason coaches rarely sub him even when he's having a bad game.

I mean clearly Mbappe is miles better than him in the year 2025, regardless of who has scored more.

His all-round game is poor, and I believe it will cost Barca at some point. It's only March with everything to play for. Some guys are shooting their bolt too early. It shows the very ugly, reactionary side of football fandom that his performances have been below par for a while, then he scores in a big game (to plenty people's surprise I would bet) and it is all 'hahahaha I told you so, ner ner'.

It is FAR too early for this sort of 'I told you so'. He and Barca have won nothing of importance this season.

he's been poor in a lot of games. I watched them. Played well in some too.

And no, I am not saying he's not in his prime. I am saying more than that - that he's a liability and will prove so over the next two months.

He only scores so many because Barca are such an overwhelming attacking team. A great striker would have scored even more.

I mean.. surely if we win CL everything went right but hindsight is 20/20.
A striker like Alvarez would probably be much better for us in 2024-2025 than Lewa. That doesn't mean that stars won't align for us to win, or even win big. But looking at this calmly, it's clear that Lewa is on his last legs and if we manage to win LL/CL/Copa, it might be despite him being our main striker, rather than, because of it.

Another point casuals miss out on is that whether you rate him or not, defenders rate him extremely high. The defenders have immense respect for him.

Watch Ferran's equaliser. The CBs are completely occupied by RL9 and Ferran is completely free for the header.

Players with a huge reputation like him always create space for teammates. Defenders are always afraid and alert. @KingLeo10 @jamrock

This is so fucking funny. The same guys who have been vocally critical of him are now wanking off over him based on one goal. If he has a bad game in the next game they'll be calling him a donkey again.

Like I always say, football fans ate knee-jerk as fuck. At least I stick with what I believe and don't change my mind based on a game or two.

No doubting his reputation.

I’m rooting for him to be a big part of Barca’s CL win this season.

Most likely, we’ll go through Bayern/Inter and RM/PSG

It's so funny how you call people casuals.

I have been playing and watching football since before you were born. I know things about the history of the game your tiny mind will never learn.

You claim to be a massive Liverpool 'fan' while never being near England, Merseyside or Anfield, having zero clue who Tommy Smith is, and wanking over Liverpool enemies like Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho.

Then you fanboy over players like Lewy despite the fact he plays for a club you clearly despise. And put down all his team-mates to glorify him.

You live on Twitter, post comments from poor sources here, and use cringeworthy catchphrases like 'he's him'.

You embody everything I hate about modern football.

As said by almost everyone, we know he's old. We know he won't play well overall for the most part because he actually hasn't.

But no one is going to complain about it as long as he scores on the chances he gets. That's all we ask for him.

I trust current RL9 more against Madrid and Bayern than Girona and Valencia.

He's been way better against the bigger clubs for Barca than against the crap teams. He has done the opposite of statpadding.
