9 - Robert Lewandowski

Lewa will always score goals, even when not playing well, he's a goalscorer, like Kane and Haaland.

However, Suarez is clearly the better footballer (though Lewa is an excellent footballer in his own right) and has more magic and creativity.
And is being a goal scorer not a good footballer? If it was so easy then why can't others do it better? Nobody else comes close to his numbers.

ATM won when Barca was at it's lowest so they had a similar difficulty level to that of Barca competing for the league that season.

Also Lewandowski's numbers in his Barca spell are way better than Suarez' at ATM despite the former being older.
Come on mate - criticising Atletico's titles as having lesser competition when your man racked up the titles in the Bayernliga.

This is just sheer bias at this point.

I never said goalscoring wasn't important - but there's a lot more to being a footballer than being a goalscorer. I know this because I actually play football myself and see poor players poaching and getting goals.

Different positions, but would you say Haaland is better at football than Iniesta? He probably scores more in one season than Iniesta did in his entire career.

I simply don't put anywhere near as much weight on numbers as you do. I am more about eye test. Lewa has scored more goals than Maradona - he isn't one tenth of the player Diego was.

Numbers would tell you it's close between Messi and CR. Watching them play tells you Messi is miles better.

Tell me why a narrow parameter/criterion ;=like 'away goals in the CL post 2016' makes all the difference to you?

As someone else noted, Uruguay had declined hugely over a lot of decades - Suarez and other players got them back near the top of the game. Uruguay is a smaller country than Poland population wise and they were as poor if not worse of a team than Poland, so why don't you note Lewa basically having zero impact for bringing back Poland to a good level? I don't blame him for that at all, but extra credit must go to Suarez for being one of the main on-field catalysts in Uruguay's resurgence.
Uruguay are a second tier Football powerhouse with numerous trophies in their history. Suarez had world class teammates at Uruguay like Cavani, Forlan, Godin. They had other great players like Lugano, Giminez, etc.

Population is irrelevant. Is it easier to win trophies with China than with Argentina because of population?

Messi's and Ronaldo's DIRECT contributions to winning the CL trophies were more than obvious. With Lewandowski...well, yeah, sure, he did good too but at the same degree as the former two...? Hell, no!

Football Greatnest is not about stats...it is about what you see.

Barca today have the same challenge as ATM in 2021. Beating Madrid. Barca were at their lowest point when Suarez was playing for ATM.

Lewandowski has won Bundesligas without Bayern and Bayern have performed worse in the Bundesliga immediately after Lewandowski left.

Also your argument of league's difficulty doesn't work because Lewandowski has a way better individual record in the CL and more goals against PL's top 6 sides than Suarez does despite never playing in the PL. 😂

It doesn't matter about their history. They had been in the doldrums for years. He did have good team-mates but he was playing well for Uruguay before several of them arrived on the scene.

Honestly, you debate in such bad faith, making extreme straw man points - Poland are a country with a football heritage and lots of history, like Uruguay and Argentina. Bringing up China who couldn't care less about football for the most part is such a dimwitted, misleading point.

When people bring up India, China etc having a huge population so why don't they do well in football, you know to ignore them. If you have read Soccernomics you know the three main points in having a strong NT are GDP, population, nad football history/culture. The last is especially important and China DO NOT have it.

So shove your laughing smilies where the sun doesn't shine.

You also didn't reply when I tore apart your point after the last condescending laughing smilie you sent me.

Same point goes for Messi and Ronaldo against PL teams yet you're always defending Ronaldo and insulting Messi.

'Lewandowski has won Bundesligas without Bayern and Bayern have performed worse in the Bundesliga immediately after Lewandowski left.'

Sheer coincidence for the latter part. They've replaced him with Kane now. Yes they didn't win the league last season but that was an anomaly.

The only thing you tore apart is your own argument after you brought up shit like population stats.

And no, Forlan was senior to Suarez and already the star of the team when Suarez arrived in the NT. Forlan was one of the best players in the 2010 WC. Suarez once again was a second/third act. Cavani and Godin are world class players of the same age as Suarez.

Here's another emoji for your non-existent argument and fragile ego.

Forlan is one example. They were starting to come back a bit by 2002, but Suarez and others made the change really happen. It doesn't change the fact that Suarez was arguably Uruguay's best player in 2010 WC and 2011 Copa America.

You're still maintaining I said it's just population when I have even qualified it in the post you quoted - Soccernomices...GDP, population size and FOOTBALL CULTURE. Population was just one factor. You overlook the latter, culture. China have little football culture so poor analogy by you to compare them with Argentina.

You have such an extreme, irrational man crush on Lewandowski that you are now showing the nasty side we all know you have, because you can't take someone putting your points in perspective. 'Fragile ego' - there's no need for comments like that.

You are making a lot of misleading points in here and can't handle being called out on them.

Never seen you bring up that argument for Messi against Ronaldo not have we ever had a proper debate regarding them so we'll cross that imaginary bridge when we get there.

I'm totally up for a discussion on Messi vs Ronaldo. 👍

Mate, you are constantly ignoring the arguments given by @Ter Stature and you're saying things like Suarez had great all round contribution in the CL post 2016 when the entire Barca fanbase was criticising Luis for that very thing saying he was fat, unfit and slow on the ball.

Then you took offense to a laughing emoji for no reason.

I never made any personal comments. Neither did I insult you. My and Ter Stature's comments were strictly about the Footballers.

Not interested much in Messi vs Ronaldo...it's a boring overdone debate and you know my feelings on it anyway.

What bothers me is that I think you are a decent guy and poster, yet you seem to like Lewa so much that you take personal potshots at me and others because you dislike criticism of him.
