9 - Robert Lewandowski

The Madrid rat above is like a pig in shit tonight. Doing cartwheels of joy as long as there is no WiFi hub within 7 miles of him as that would render him unconscious.

When are the mods going to do their job and get rid of the undercover Madrid RAT ? @Barcaman @Andresito . Wake the fuck up.
Elon's StarLink satellites have him in a heightened state of paranoia lately.

It's 3am here and I genuinely chuckled btw

No Lewandowski vs. Portugal and Scotland?!
Me thinks it's more fake than real...at best, partially real...but that's all right.
Actually, that's a blessing for all the parties involved, the NT and the club.

Poland is not capable to use him effectively and they're better off trying out 'without-Lewandowski' stuff.
They could implement him for the World Cup qualifications and if successful the finals but ...as an auxiliary, not as a must.

Scores a legit goal that was crucial to the outcome of the match.

Yeah, played poor but important goal that was legit.

I have noticed everyone (outside of barcaforum) loves Lewa. Like he must be one of the most well-liked and popular players around, Kante level of popularity. I never see anyone say a bad word about him, as a player or person.

He does seem a cool guy but I don't really understand it as I have seen plenty of better players (not that he isn't an excellent player). Most other players have plenty of critics but this guy seems to evade criticism a lot, even when he deserves it (except on here). Same as Ancelotti. It's rather annoying how people think the sun shines out of his arse.

I don't care about individul awards, but Lewa is so well-liked as a guy that we have the farce of people saying Messi 'robbed' him of a BD in 2021, despite Lewa being destroyed by Messi in everything but goal stats (as Messi does with just about every player) and Lewa's stats basically all coming in the Bundesliga that season, which they generally won every year anyway, and him doing little when it counted in the CL.

He did deserve it in 2020, but the outrage of him not winning in 2021 shows how many people like him much more as a person than they like Messi - especially the Ronaldo sect who would argue for Hitler to win a BD over Messi if he was in the running. Tbh, Lewa probably is a better guy than Messi, but he's not even 10 percent of the player Messi is and it's unlikely he deserved the BD over him that year. The only argument he has in his favour is 'Bundesliga goals', which is very underwhelming tbh and definitely nowhere near convincing enough to claim anyone 'robbed' him. Even if you think it should have been close, there is no way Lewa was cheated. It was reasonable that Messi won. Lewa certainly wasn't so amazing that it's a farce he didn't win; he didn't do so much that it's a cast iron case for him to win. The outrage over that shows how clueless and hysterical a lot of football fans are, and how they jumped on the Lewa bandwagon, feigning indignation.

Ironically, Lewa is the true 'popularity vote' for the fans. A lot of people wanna see him win individual awards because he's likeable (to them) and he's not Messi, who a lot of people consider teacher's pet. A lot of people are also morons and swallowed Ronaldo and his cult's deluded ravings that Messi is favoured by everyone in football (when actually nobody's wins are more farcical than about three of Ronaldo's).

Ironically, Lewa's insane popularity is kinda what puts me off him a bit. It isn't a Ronaldo type of popularity, where he is loved by loads of fanboys but a figure of derision for most others. No, Lewa is universally popular. And I just can't work out why, because he isn't particularly good to watch and - while a nice guy - doesn't seem a particularly interesting, magnetic character either. Though he is very good looking. I don't really know why he has so many more fanboys than Robben or Iniesta or Hazard or Salah or De Bruyne - all players who are/were arguably or definitely better than him.

Maybe I am missing something about the lad. It just seems off that a player of his ability attracts a fanboy level of worship and popularity typically associated with much better players than he is. I mean Cristiano Ronaldo is a cunt, Lewa is a far better man than him I would suggest, but I do consider Ronaldo one of the top 10 players ever, so I can see why he attracts extreme fanboys. But Lewa? He's lucky if he's a top 100 player of all time...We have people on here arguing he's better than Ronaldo 9 and the greatest striker ever, when really that's an insane viewpoint. It's honestly like saying Bale is more talented than George Best was and vehemently arguing it in good faith, when everyone outside of the guy's fans knows it is an utter utter bollocks opinion.

It's a very strange phenomenon, this Lewa love.

Edit: in saying all this, I hope he is a main protagonist in Barca winning the league and CL

You joke but I am wondering if that might actually be the reason so many people take a shine to him, over and above his equally good or better peers.

He's a very handsome man and miles better looking than the five I named (other than maybe Hazard, who is arguably handsome, Salah is handsome too to be fair). I left out guys like Neymar, Benzema and Suarez as they are reviled for their personalities. Robben and Salah are called divers but I wouldn't say they are hated anywhere near much as those three.

I honestly think there might be a bit of that there. Obviously if you change someone's face everything about them changes too, Lewa might be a different player entirely with a different face and body and different levels of confidence. But I do feel if he had played his entire career with a Miroslav Klose mask on he wouldn't be rated THIS highly.

Barcaforum is that hunchback guy from 300. We hold the truth, just have trouble standing on the right side of history.
