Lewandowski is undoubtedly world class, but for 50M he better keeps that level for at least 2 seasons.

He's still doing great but eventually time catches up to everyone.

Lewandowski received several death threats via Social Media and hence, he decided to return to Munich alone, without his family. [@UEFAComPiotrK Via: @_BarcaInfo]

FFS, it's just football, some people really take things too far. Never understood people who are talking shit on players's social media and even less those idiots sending death threats. I'm sure 99% of them are just keyboard warriors who are softies in real life but it's enough if one of them is serious.

If Lewandowski comes, the quality people will be most pleasantly surprised by is his pace. Not only is he fast over long distances, he's very quick off the mark.

People expecting an old and sluggish striker are in for a shock.

He's rapid actually and that also enables him to get in behind defenses when needed.

He isn't slow but he isn't rapid

It's a high price. Not only high expectations this season but the next and probably the one after that as well.

How many times will someone have to repeat this: when it comes to pace/speed in football people aren't talking about top speed, these are professional athletes they all literally have exceptional top speeds, they are talking about acceleration within the first few steps of a player's stride. That's what matters. That's what distinguishes prime Neymar from say, prime Busquets or Pique; acceleration.

On average just how much do you think a player covers per stride with and without the ball? 100m? No, about 5m-10m. That's why acceleration in football (and in other ball playing sports like Basketball, Tennis, Rugby etc) matters, strides only usually cover small distances.

Think this transfer is okay. Since Messi left we literally had no reliable goalscorer. Fati has potential, but he's young and unreliable, including due to injuries. Auba is almost as old and his prime is clearly over and he's currently magnitude or two below Lew. Lewsky tho is late bloomer and has his best goalscoring record in recent years, including past year. Good physically still and with good mentality. Kinda like Nowax is in tennis. Think for team in dire need for a pure striker in rebuild period, where we have none, he is reasonable acquirement and the price given his pedigree would never be as low as someone expected (like 20-30 mil, yeah right). He can ease us in the rebuild process, giving couple of years of constant goal scoring, making best of our chances that we had created plenty of even in Xavicross period.

Can't blame the board making such strategic decision. All the other attackers are basically a gamble all around, while Lewz should be at least reliable in what he do best. He doesn't have to have great pace to score goals. He has good goal scoring instinct and kind of thing doesn't fade away with years as fast. Many pure strikers have played till their late 30s with decent success.

k. i'm just coping :(

I think it is not that unrealistic to get 3 top class seasons out of Lewandowski.

He will probably press less, but the scoring instincts and his football IQ would allow him to get 25 goals at 36 without much problems.

Top speed / acceleration are highly correlated. Think of all the players considered fast in world football and if any of them have a low top speed.
