With his injury problems and his age he will always be a squad player for Barca, a very good one, but that's it.
He keeps himself more available to defend the counterattack than either Alves or Alba..
And probably that's why Tito preffered him right now instead of Jordi..it will take him some time to synchronize his movements with those of Dani and you can't risk against a team that has CR and Di Maria on the wings. Not to mention that JA didn't had a propper vacation(like the other spanish internationals from our squad did), so he should probably be rested more in the first month.
Surprised at the comments here. IMO, I think Alba is way better than Adriano.
It looks likes sometimes we forget to put things in perspective and that's why Tello and Adriano are so praized, while Alexis and VV are crucified or JA is made to be a benchwarmer already. And while I understand that the expectations are different from those players I for one preffer to wait \a few months and see where we stand in La Liga before I pass any judgements about this competition between Adriano and Alba. Let's not forget that the Spanish Supercup, even if it's against RM, it's only a little more important than the Gamper.
