Exactly, even if it wasn't a flagrant foul, it was an evident foul and Cristina dropped easily knowing that Adriano had just made a stupid decision... Red card all the way...

I remember I had a coach when I was young that used to tell us that if we had to commit a foul like that one, we better make the red worthy and give the other player a good beating, hahaha, in this case I agree with him, hahaha...

Adriano didn't have the chance to make the red card worthy, he only pulled CR down and didn't kick him in the nuts. sadly

Adriano has never been a bad player going forward, the problem is that at times he can be caught out defensively but at the Camp Nou, the vast majority of teams will generally play defensively and so his defensive defeciencies can be covered up.

But we really saw what happened when he was tested against elite attackers and guys with quickness and skill on the ball, I don't think i'd trust him to start against Madrid again especially at the Bernabeau after what happened last time. Or against teams that have quality wingers.....

I think you're being harsh on Alves.

Danny is a much better defender than Adriano and I actually think he's a little underrated in that aspect. Danny just plays a very attacking role for Barca but that doesn't mean that he can't defend.

As for the partnership of Pique and Mascherano,I'm not entirely convinced about our central defense. They will be good enough for most sides but against sides that have quality or physicality up front, it could very well pose problems for us. We saw Mascherano make some crucial mistakes against AC Milan (he was the one responsible for the goal that Milan scored at Nou Camp last season in the quarters and he was also responsible for the goal that Drogba scored at Stamford Bridge). I can't think of any of the other great managers like Mourinho or Alex Ferguson playing a short DM and make him a permanent CB in their side.

Pique was really poor last season and his performance at the Bernabeau and Osasuna leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sorry but i don't think we have any world class defenders in the centre of defense and with Alba on the left........the defense could come under pressure against the top sides this season especially in the latter stages of the Champions League. I'm not going to say that Pique or Mascherano are average but they;re certainly a long way apart from being world class.

i agree, with this kind of defense pique playing like shit mascherano who is a not a cb and puyol starting to losing his best we are not going anywhere, we need world class center back and when i mean world class i tottaly mean it thiago silva was the best option but they didnt want to pay much money for him and they lost him.believe it or not our defence is pretty fucked up sorry for saying that, but depending only in pique's height also isnt the best option cause of the very short mascherano
