To be fair to him he was great last season and the season before as well when he had to step up after Abidal's injury. Just injury prone.

He was never bad to begin with but Abidal just provided us with more consistency and solidity in that position. Since there wasn't a big deal of difference in terms of the quality between Alba and Adriano,it doesn;t really surprise me that we have competition in that spot.

Adriano is great. I remember seeing him at Camp Nou when he was with Sevilla and thinking he's awesome and would be a great tandem with Dani. Has all round ability in defense and attack and a good engine as well as a bit of that Brazilian x-factor. Now he's got us the key opening goal that enabled victory against 2 tough opponents.

This. I really don't think that Grimaldo will break in the first team at 18. He's a great youth player but needs to develop more, we can't rush him.

Adriano shined again. He had only one mistake and that was when he failed to block the shot at Getafe's goal.

Alba will have to work extra hard to claim the spot.
