Adriano Correia Claro

Adriano was a big part of this year's fantastic first half. This is the quality of player the team needs beyond the first choice 11, someone who can step in when needed and play at pretty much the same level as the player who is hurt or being rested. A better scorer than any other Barca backline player except maybe Alba.

OK, he is too injury prone to be relied upon as a regular starter, or as the only viable sub at both RB and LB. With Alves, Alba and Montoya, having Adriano available only most of the time is not a problem. Plus, he has shown he is an excellent deep bench option at wing forward and CB. I'm looking forward to seeing him play every position on the field over the next few years, being in the top 15 on the team in minutes played every year.

I would rather have Montoya to be in the top 15 next year, as he is our future. Adriano isn't our future, just a temporary squad player who (I hope) will be replaced by Grimaldo in about 1.5/2 years.

:rosell:'s first signing. I like him. When he was sharing time at RB with Montoya while Alves was injured it was nice having a player who could shoot and cross. I hope we can find a way to keep him healthy. Ambidextrous players who can also play every position are rare and worth their weight in gold.

Aderiano is like a Joker player. Playes in every where.

Especially in this position:

So, an injury prone Adriano (I really like him btw.) gets 4 more years, while Abidal most probably will get nothing  :rosell:

Yes but a 4 year contract doesn't mean will stay all 4 years. Its better than making nothing for him. We at least have a better chance at recouping the 12 millions we spent .

Rosell is the godfather of one of Adriano's kids, so I doubt he will be leaving any time soon. Besides with hiim in our squad we have another back-up for the CB..with Pique, Puol, Mascherano and Bartra we have more than enough.

Best news I've read all week. Glad he's staying.

Why is everyone complaining about the release clause? It means nothing. It's not as if anyone would ever come close to triggering his release clause if it was lower. Barca would accept a good offer in either case.

I really like him, but considering we have Alba now a player who's similar to Adriano (attacking minded LB), but younger.
Having Adriano won't help, especially that he's getting injured too much recently!
I would have preferred to replace him with a Defensive minded Left Back.
Unless, Barca are planning to sell Alves (for 25+M) and buy a defensive minded Right Back (Maybe Ivanovic)!

Also True but first and foremost he likes money. A personal relationship didnt stop him from wanting to sell Ronaldinho for 100 millions. Obviously thats a different scale but it would be poor economics to let a 28 year old run his contract down. If People want him gone because he's injury prone do you want him gone for at best 5-8 millions? Because that is all I could see with one year and his injury reputation.

Same here. Those low key signings are proving to be our best buys in recent years.

We've made some good high-profile signings too, like Villa, Masch, Fabregas, Alves etc (Villa was great in 2011 and would have been a great buy if he didn't get that injury, and while Fabregas has been off-form in the second half of the season and rightly got benched, he is a major reason we won the league by December). Our best buy recently has been a low-profile player (Alba) though, so I do see your point. I don't think that really means much though, it doesn't mean that every low-profile signing will be an Alba-like bargain, or that every high-profile signing is doomed to flop.

Agree with everything, especially with the bolded part. His long shots saved our asses against Valencia, and got us going against Atletico after our slow start.

I'm glad to know that he extended his contract. This guy is very important for the squand : on the pitch because he covers a lot of places and at a high level when he's not injured and off the pitch because he has always a smile on his face and looks very friendly.

I'm very happy he stayed. He is a great addition to the team. Perfect squad player. I just hope he can avoid those injuries.
Surely he set a new world record this seasons. I cant remember anyone being on & off the injury list as often as he was.

Glad hes staying we need his versatility badly. Hope he avoids injuries and has a clause of proper paycuts if hes injured
