Alen Halilović

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
The guy has attitude issues. How shocking.

After the rumors from his time in Croatia to how he reacted to being subbed off at Barca B, to Abelardo benching him in Sporting and now this. The guy has problems and his entourage isn't any better.

If Adama/Halilovic was the reason we dropped Asensio then Madrid hit jackpot.

Dinamo fans said he had disciplinary problems, he showed attitude issues when being subbed off at Barça B, and Abelardo complained publicly about his work-rate. Could it be the reason? Obviously not due to his abilities.

He had a fight with journalists even as a kid in youth Croatian teams, when journalists "dared" to say that he play poor.
Then he scored one goal, run to the camera and said: "shhhh, be quiet" to camera/journalists...
He had some issues in Barca B when subbed off.
In Gijon, he lost his place even under Abelardo (in a bottom table team).
All Croatian senior NT coaches are avoiding him (even though we don't have RWs at all).
He didn't want to play for youth NT team last Month in qualifiers because he thinks that he is too good for young NT team (and senior coaches aren't calling him).
He isn't playing even for Hsv now.

Imo, his problem till now aren't only disciplinary (true, his father is an idiot and they taught Alen to behave like a diva and spoiled brat).
His other problem are his current footballing abilities.
Imo, he is one of those players who looks way more shinier/better than he actually is. (He looks special, but he isn't that special when you follow him longer and when you look at his skills in all areas, not only dribbles and technique).
He really moves/runs like Messi and that causes too high expectations from people/coaches probably.
His technique is out of this world in some moments, but more or less, that is it.

For years, it is "beautiful" to watch him, he really looks special (when you watch him running).
He seems beautiful to watch, but it seems that his product/impact on a field is quite small, except a few shiny solo runs and dribbles (which lead to nothing) in every match.

labbadia just has been sacked, so another chance for alen i guess?

We will see.
But way too many coaches in a row didn't play him (Gijon, Hsv, 2 Croatian NT coaches).

Either he has a horrible work ethic/attitude issues.
Or coaches soon realize that he has shiny tricks and skills, but more or less absolutely nothing happens when he is on the field and he doesn't bring any improvement to a team compared to a lineup when he is not on a field (or, when less shiny players play).

I have said a few times that I don't believe that he will ever reach Barca's level because of his low footballing IQ.
I thought that he could reach a level of Tottenham, Roma and similar teams.
But how his career is developing, I am not sure anymore that he can reach even that level of quality (Totenham, Roma etc).

smart decision to pick hsv of all the teams in the world

Halilovic is unfortunately not so smart, and his father is even dumber. People were saying to them not to choose HSV but they refused to listen. He had huge potential but so did Deulofeu. Very similar story, very talented guys with very low football IQ.

Very low everything-IQ, it seems. Sadly.

so whats his deal? still warming the bench for hsv

Yes still warming the bench...

Abelardo, former Croatian NT coach, a new Croatian NT coach, first HSV's coach, a new HSV's coach.

When 5 coaches in a row opt not to pick you as a starter (or even as a squad player for a Croatian NT team), something is fishy with a player.

Halilovic has good technique and dribbling, but it seems that he is poor in decision making, a final impact, plus he works less on a field than majority of players.
His coaches are constantly picking players who are less talented than him in attack, but who's overall all-round product (attack, defense, workrate, movement, end product etc) is higher than Alen's.

I never believed that he will be Barca's level. But I believed that he will be of Tottenham's/Everton's/Leverkusen's and similar level.
He will have to work a lot and improve a loooooot to reach "even" that level of football one day.

This kid is dumb and has difficult character. His father and people around him convinced him that he is a new superstar when he was 16 years old. He has a great tallent but his tactical discipline is beyond awful. He is also awfully selfish player. He hasn't learned a thing for last two years and he has zero self criticism in him.

I am afraid there is no hope at all...

According to Bild article Halilović will get a personal fitness trainer. We'll see if that will help him but looks like he wants to do something to improve his chances of succeding at HSV.

Google translate for those who don't understand German...

Alen Halilovic (20) has played this season with a manageable 92 minutes. Also in Mönchengladbach, the 5 million shopping from Barcelona was only a spectator. Now Halilovic wants to work on his deficits.

Today, the technician lets his own fitness trainer fly in!

Mario Tomljanovic is considered a guru in Croatia. The grinder accompanied the handball team to the Olympics to Rio. He has been the athletics bosscoach for 16 months at football first division Hajduk Split. He also works as a lecturer for kinesiology (alternative medicine, for example, energy blockages in the body) at the University of Split.

Now has him Halilovic engaged. The Youngster is in the criticism, because he makes on the defensive to few runways. A Fitness Problem?

Tomljanovic replied, "If a player can move forward with so much pace, he can not say he is not fit."

The expert wants to analyze the deficits, then counteract them with special training plans.

Tomljanovic will stay for a week in Hamburg. A conversation with head coach Markus Gisdol (47) is also planned.

The has no problem with that Halilovic addition to the HSV units trained with a specialist.

Gisdol: "As far as fitness is concerned, a player's own initiative is generally good. There are worse activities. But everything happens in consultation with our fitness trainers. "

Tomljanovic will not make a combat machine from Halilovic. He says, "You have to know what strength a player has. If I bought Alen to ripen, I got the wrong. "

In Croatian media, there is a quote from Bild, which apparently says:
"Halilovic has two problems:
1. first is his physical condition. He said when he came to Germany: What is this? I never had 3 training sessions per day.
2. the other problem is, his teammates in Hsv told him a few times during matches: "Move man, move. Run, move, do something."
Apparently Halilovic replied: I didn't come here to run, but to score goals!"

:shakeshead: If true, this guy and his father really do live in their own bubble where Halil is really the next Messi, who is a godlike player and who is only supposed to score and dribble and not to do other dirty work on a field.
