Alen Halilović

A loan to Las Palmas should be done. Great. He should've joined them in the summer, but now is fine too.

- Setien likes him.
- Las Palmas play good attacking football (2nd highest possession in the league).
- He will continue to get adapt to Spain.
- He will know that this is his final chance to impress Barça.
- Barça could still activate their clause in the summer if Halilovic does well.

Are you sure about that? Haven't seen it reported anywhere. Will we keep buy-option for next year as well if Las Palmas will buy him this summer?

According to local press he should arrive to Las Palmas today in the afternoon so his loan could be confirmed today. Las Palmas plays their next league match only on Monday so maybe he could already have some minutes against Valencia.

Roque Mesa-Vicente Gomez; Halilović-Viera-Boateng; Calleri? (they are apparently after him as well) - this looks really good for a smaller team like Las Palmas.

And I've read they are also interested in Gaku Shubasaki who has scored twice against Real Madrid in Club World Cup finals.

Well, it's just a loan. If at the end of the season he's impressed Barca enough to bring him back, they can inform Halilovic, who would then refuse to join Las Palmas, return to his parent club in Germany, and then be bought back by us. If he signs for Las Palmas I'm not sure what that'd mean for our buyback but he'd almost certainly not be returning either way.

If he can improve, no problem, he can come here or in any top team.
But we should be realistic.

Of course we should, but we shouldn't rule anything out. Las Palmas have impresses greatly, so it's a good platform for him to show his talent for an attacking team in the good half of La Liga. Something that would've been ideal 1,5 years ago when he had to be loaned out the first time. He asked Robert for help, and Robert probably pulled some strings and made this happen. Barça bought him for a reason and of course they would still like him to become a great player for them. And fyi, I was critical of Halilovic from the day he joined Barça.

For now they will loan him and under all circumstances he will return to HSV next summer. Then both Barça (10M) and Las Palmas (5M) can use their clauses to get him permanently. If Las Palmas buy him, Barça would lose their buyback (unless they make some kind of deal with Las Palmas like they did with Villarreal and Denis), like they did with Adama when he joined Middlesbrough.

We've lost our buy-back option we had agreed with Aston Villa after Adama was sold to Middlesbrough last summer.

Every time he moves to a new team I see people hopeful it'll be THE move, that this time THAT manager will help him improve etc.

Like it is with Deulofeu, I think the problem is Halilovic. His father isn't helping, but Alen need to get his shit together himself.

Alen proved his worth with Gijon, proved to be shit with HSV. This will be make or break for him. The potential is surely there and he has enough talent to be one of the world best players but not the mentality so far. he is still 20 so it is still cross roads but most of player of his talent don't became starts at the age of 26 but at young age so he better get his shit soon.

Yes? And he did improve at Barça B and Sporting, and everybody who knew about HSV beforehand all cursed him about that decision. From every single angle, this move to Las Palmas is perfect for Alen, who now has a great platform to get closer to the potential everybody knows he has. He's just 20, remember. If he returns to Barça in 2018, he'll be 22, like Denis when he returned.

He might have the talent, but what does it matter if he got the head of the likes of Deulofeu and Depay?

Won't make it unless he sits his ass down and thinks about his priorities, weaknesses and strengths. Need to stop think he's some super star. You're a fucking prospect no one will give a shit about in five years if you don't set your head straight.

He improved at Gijon and then had some issues towards the end of that loan stint. His ego couldn't allow him to have his ass sat on the bench and he didn't work harder to rectify that.

No one is going to baby sit you. Halilovic has to take some responsibility himself. Let's see if he's able to do that in Las Palmas.

And btw, totally agree that Alen is at fault for his bad development in the past half year. His entourage sucks and he didn't listen to the club's advice and picked HSV. And he didn't work hard enough in training towards the end with Gijon. Hopefully Robert was the one advising him to pick Las Palmas (also rumored interest from Gijon and Valencia) and hopefully Setien, who from Barça preferences is a great coach and reportedly likes Alen, will be the right to guide him towards a more disciplinary and mature way of professional life.
