Song has been very good as a DM. He's crap at CB but that's not his fault. Tito and co thought they could turn him in to a cb but its didn't work. No way we should sell him. He has had limited game time but always come on and puts in a good shift. If Tito had any tactical acumen we'd be playing 4-2-3-1 is away CL games and Song would be very useful.

THIS.

I would have a line-up of:

VV (if he stays)
Montoya-Pique-new CB-Jordi Alba
Song-Xavi
Pedro-Iniesta-Neymar
Messi

Cruijffista

SOY ANTIMADRIDISTA
He's been okay but he'll have to get more minutes to justify his 7M salary. He's currently our 5th-highest wage earner.

I don't know if a double-pivot in away games in the CL could effectively utilize Busquets, Xavi, and Iniesta at the same time with our current players.

Only if it was Iniesta on the left, like the Spain NT used up until recently:

Iniesta Messi winger
Xavi
Busquets Song

But I'd never propose using a double-pivot as a starting lineup. Not with the current squad anyway. I'd use it to secure a lead or whatever, but our formation is perfectly balanced in terms of positioning for the way we play (excluding the two attacking fullbacks part) and using a different one for the most important games would be illogical.

Would never work, Xavi is not penetrating anymore. We won't see many forward runs or through balls. When Iniesta plays CM he complements Xavi with his dynamic runs/dribbles. Iniesta and Messi would have to pick up the ball in midfield and it would be even worse than some of the games last season - no forwards.

I agree. Which is why I'd never propose using that system I wrote above. I just wrote it to provide an option how you could use both Song, Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta at the same time (referring to the post above), because it's pretty much the same as in the NT (only with Song instead of Alonso). But I don't even like seeing Xavi in front of Xabi and Busquets in the NT. It's too far up front for him. He works better when he plays deeper. If I absolutely had to do it, I'd rather use Busquets and Xavi paired as a double pivot, and have one of Fabregas/Messi/Iniesta in front of them, then use Xavi in front of the double pivot. Anyways, as I said before, Iniesta-Busquets-Xavi works best and I wouldn't mess with that. Besides, Song is not that good to warrant changing up that midfield.

I can't believe this "paquete" cost barca 10 more million than Paulinho and is one of barca's best paid footballers. What a disgrace. :VdB:
GTFO, Song is easily better than Paulinho and his only problem is Busquets. He could be a starter at Barça any day if Busi wouldn't exist

Annually Income: €6,84,000
Weekly Income: €14,270
Daily Match Income: €1900

Seriously? Where did you get these numbers from? 57k a week seems more realistic, 57k a month seems way too low...

I hope that if Thiago leaves he´ll get more playing time in centre midfield, apparently he was beast for Arsenal when he was unleashed from defensive duties.
