Alex Song

Song was terrible in the second half of the season.

That was nothing to do with duping Barca he just went badly off form and even West Ham have been reluctant to take him back.

If Song was desperate for a move to London then playing well the whole season would have been by far the best way to do it.

He wasnt terrible. But he faded with the rest of the team after having a superb first half.

Song is better than most players in the EPL.

Song is not even close to one of the better players in the EPL and faded very badly last season.

The fact barely any club wants to sign him despite having tens of millions at their disposal says it all.

So more than 200 players in the EPL are better than Song? I disagree. He is definitely better than most players in the EPL. Surely better than Illarramendi.

We have always been terrible at selling to EPL clubs. We couldnt manage to get more than 33m euros for a player like Cesc who absolutely dominated EPL for many years and was a shoe-in to dominate that league for the team who signed him.

The fact no one wants to move for Song says it all. The teams in EPL dont rate him that highly. This in a league where bang average players are going for over 10m.

Illaramendi is not in the EPL but I would say he is better than Song and would have more teams after him.

If Song is one of better players why are teams not in for him? Its because he is not rated highly.

He would never have been able to play well even a single game in the EPL if he was that terrible.

We only managed to sell a proven EPL player like Cesc for 33m euros, who was bound to kill it in that league. Meanwhile, EPL teams buy players like Juan Mata, Adama Lallana, Herrera and Willian for more money. Cesc is worth more than all of those put together. So it proves we are terrible at selling to EPL teams. When we can only get 33m for a proven EPL slayer like Cesc, we shouldnt be surprised that we cant even get 0m for Song.

The simple fact of how high Song is rated in the EPL is how mang teams want to sign him....not many.

If he was good enough there would be bids coming in but there isnt.

You act like there are clubs willing to buy him but Barca are so bad at selling they cant find them.

Why do you think no teams have bid for Song?

They probably think they can get him for free while we pay the wages, like we usually do, so why should they bid.

Because if they wanted him they would bid for him like they have bid for Pedro, Duelofeu, Adama, Cesc and Sanchez in the past.

There is no chance that clubs that want Song just wont bid for him in the hope of getting him for free and risk him going elsewhere. It doesnt work like that. If clubs want him they can get him very cheaply.

Clubs dont seem to want him.

It is not realistic that clubs want to sign 'one of better players in EPL' but are not willing to pay a few million to guarantee it. They would rather wait and hope to get him for free.

Edit: The press in England last season said West Ham were paying Songs full wages. The most in the clubs history. Along with a 3m loan fee.

No need to. The bad players in the EPL rarely play. Song played 28 games for West Ham for a reason. If he was worse than most EPL players, he wouldnt play. He is injured now so they will get him for free in January or something while we pay the wages as usual.

There are loads of bad players in the Premier League that have played 28 games and more! I suppose you think James Collins is a great PL player as he played so many games or Carl Jenkinson at RB must be some player!

You keep repeating this line that 'Barca will pay the wages as usual' when it was reported in English press last year that West Ham were paying Songs wages in full and a 3m loan fee.

.

Exactly. It doesnt take that much to be better than most EPL players and Song is. If Song was that horrible he would have been benched for some of the other "great" West Ham players.

Collins nor Jenkinson were benched either last season..... and they are poor players.

Your point of him playing 28 games for West Ham proving he was one of Premier Leagues better players is ludicrous. He wouldnt be anywhere near one of the top 20 midfielders in the league last year.

Anyway, not claiming Song is utter shit he was very good first half last season and poor second half and there has been no real interest from EPL teams with big money

You obviously cant read. I said that Song is better than most EPL players. That means that he is better than half of the 400+ players in the EPL squads.

How on earth can you compare him to other players in other positions.

Teams generally play with two players in Songs area so he would need to be in top 20/25 midfielders to be be at least better than the average. Which he probably isnt.

If you want to stretch it out to Song being better than back up right backs and second/third choice GKs then fair enough but it is irrelevant really. He is not above average for CMs in the Prem and a long, long way off the top bracket.

Song, by no means was "horrible" last season.

Don't pay any attention to what that clown David Sullivan has to say.

He was exceptional in the first half of the season, and he tailed off badly in the second half of the season, along with the rest of the team.

If he wasn't injured, then I'm pretty certain that West Ham would have signed him by now, as he would without question, improve the XI.

The fact that West Ham have so many injured players at present, along with Song's massive wages, is making the owners nervous. Think Andy "Sicknote" Carroll!

THAT is the main sticking point.
