Alexis is a support forward. He is not a main forward type, nor is he a goal scoring forward. He is a creative winger, support forward type. He was brought at a time when Barca had 3 direct goal scoring forwards, as a creative and support alternative. The team lost one of those forwards to injury (Villa) and the other to form (Pedro) and that forced Alexis into a role he is not suited, hence the struggles. To this day, his role has remained the same because the team has failed to acquire other players that could take that responsibility away from him. Now however, Neymar, who himself is also another creative/support forward, has also put another roadblock in Alexis' possible return to the role he was brought to perform, in the case the team were to get another direct goal scoring forward. Keeping Alexis in this role that does not suit his skillset, is just handicapping both the player and the team.

The irony in all this is that Alexis has been so much better since Neymar is a Barca player.

Seriously, your sounding as he is shit and could be replaced by just anybody, you last sentence doesnt make much sense together with the whole post. He is not suited for Barca? i dont get that, a guy that is in the right places, presses harder than anybody in the team, getting goals and assists, what more could he do or any other winger do on our team. My biggest problem with him as i have with a fair few players in our team is that he drifts in and out of games, can be stellar a half and almost invisible the next.

It's not only the case with some of our players..for example Muller from Bayern does the same thing and he has scored some of the most awkward goals I've ever seen, yet he is constantly praised for this. Also I can' understand how we can see some posters constantly complain about the lack of physicality in our team and then want to sell Alexis, who is one of the few players who still presses like a mad man for 90'. If you think about it, not only that he is our top goalscorer in the league and he scored some important goals(like the ones against Sevilla, Espanyol or Real Madrid) but sometimes he is our best defender on the pitch. And with a squad that has won so much we can't get rid of one of the few players who still care.

PS: The only way that I would have accepted us selling Alexis is if we had bought Cavani, Lewandowski or Llorente. But we had a coach who said that Falcao wouldn't be a starter for us and a sporting director who still hasn't met with the coach to talk about next year's squad, so we'll just have to learn to live with the players we have.

You clearly did not understand or misread what I wrote. I did not say Alexis was not suited for Barca. I said the role Barca need from him is not suited for his skillset. That is different.

Btw, a player can be extraordinary and have a lot of talent, and still not be suited to play on every team. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is living proof.

Well that is a completely fabricated notion and heavy speculation at best. In fact, stats say the total opposite. Alexis has score 10 goals and given 5 assists with Neymar not playing. As opposed, he has scored 6 goals and assisted 3 with Neymar on the field.

That is correct. But even if I would have died for Tello the player why people would throw this to my face often when I'm posting my opinions about Alexis is a complete mystery to me, just don't get at all what might be the connection between one thing and the other....

Moreover, if somebody thinks for a second I criticize Alexis objectively because I support Tello the player I would first ask of his / her age because that's so childish I can't even think of it and if it were so I would have obviously "bashed" Pedro or Neymar not Alexis ! Alexis at Barca plays best into the right, not into the left while Tello almost can't play in the right at all, he is a disaster there...

See, that's where you are so blatantly wrong. I doubt anyone here loves Alexis uncondentially. I fact most of us has critizised him when it was due. However, this season he's been great for us, an still you and others refuse to acknowledge that fact. So, if there's anything in this ongoing debate that's unconditional, it's your dislike of Alexis.

He'll never play CF at Barca on a regular basis, on the left is not doing any better than on the right and no matter what coach Barca will hire Alexis won't get to play in his natural positon and he can't give more where he plays today. I like the guy a lot, I respect what he does and where he is today considering he had a very poor family but still those facts cannot overcome the fact that he does not posses the right skillset for that position that he plays in today's Barca team.

Alexis is doing great on the wing, can easily play in center, if need be, so he's fairly versatile. He shows spirit, performs well, never complains and seems to be a well liked member of the squad to top it all off. And STILL you want him out...

I rather a player like pedro who can cut in and shoot because he can play equally with either foot. Or a player who doesnt look like he's spinning in circles when he's dribbling, Or a player that can be a target for crosses.
