Alexis Sanchez

I rather a player like pedro who can cut in and shoot because he can play equally with either foot. Or a player who doesnt look like he's spinning in circles when he's dribbling, Or a player that can be a target for crosses.

Fair enough. For the first and third point, please do name me a few potential targets.

Cavani ( :troll: ), muller, lewandowski or suarez. I don't know if Lewa can play as a wide forward but i know muller plays as a false 7 and cavani and suarez are used as wide forwards for Uruguay.

I think what the forum is experiencing is many people are late in adapting to change. It was quite clear that Alexis was struggling to prove his worth over the last few seasons and people like myself and others criticized him rightly, but now that he has improved in contribution and consistency we have many who are stuck in the past. I say don't hold it against them but allow them to catch up organically. Just might take a little time ;)

None of those are viable targets. Not even close.

Hence the troll face  we can't get any of them cause of the clubs they play for or will play for in lewa and suarez's case. But those are really just examples of the type of player I think could give us some variety in attack i'm sure theres a young player in germany or russia or something (Maybe Munir Al haddadi) that plays exactly like muller that we can get, depends on our scouts though.

Sure, I'm all for variety in attack, bur right now we're discussing reality and not FM14. That's exactly why I don't see the logic in wanting Alexis out. Because, unless we change our system all together, which we won't, there are not many viable targets who would be an improvement over Alexis.

Alexis has given us variety in attack though? In fact he is the definition of variety in attack. He is unorthodox, lightening fast, and given his current confident form able to take on defenders and put in low crosses to Messi, Cesc, Iniesta, etc. I don't get the whole idea of wanting a striker. I believe we have the personnel to create a lineup that has Messi behind one of Neymar or Alexis or even Cesc :tata1:

I agree with most of this, Pepe, except for the part about not wanting a striker. I mean, I don't want to change our current system much, but a plan b would be interesting. The problem, of course, is who the hell we'd look to get for that role. A seasoned 9 fit for a ChL contender, who would accept being a bench player to boot. Hell, I don't know...

That's pretty ridiculous. People have different opinions and different perspectives, to suggest those that disagree with yours are slow to the mark or stuck in the past is patently absurd.

There is plenty of evidence to give credence to the opinion that Alexis, while still being a very very good player, is not an ideal fit for the role he fills at Barca. And yes, even despite his increased production compared to his previous years.

I blame FM for posts like that... The wrong notion that signing such players is an easy task.

I don't even know what FM is

But I fail to see how Lewandowski wouldn't have been viable this past summer if we sold alexis and threw money at Dortmund, it would've depended on lewa himself since Dortmund would be happy to sell to us instead of Bayern which they inevitably had to give him to.

Well Flavia it might not be simple, but it is also not out of the realm of possibility. All those players, with the exception of Muller, have changed clubs in the past 3 years. Suarez was bought by Liverpool for 22M in 2011.

And it's not like Barca don't have capital. They've spent god knows how much money on Neymar just now.
