Alexis Sanchez

Haha, i choose to laugh, this getting more ridicoulous by the hour, so that stat only counts for the players YOU actually like? that is everyone but Sanchez ;), Dat Objectivity..

you can't deny that the guy who you quoted made a valid point. sanchez does have a great dribbling stat but i doubt 50% of those dribbles amounted to anything, hence his dribbles are less memorable. while robben's dribbles are memorable because they are efficient and useful. i do dislike sanchez at barca and i've never wanted him at barca but i admire his work rate, humbleness, and chilean form. i hope he will achieve greater heights but i don't see it happening with barca because he won't be given a free role he has at chile.

Well thats because of the circumstances, if you look at both the game against the Dutch and against Brazil he was the only guy on top and nobody came forward to link up, thus leaving him stranded against two or Three defenders. He still protected the ball well and often passed a defender but that didnt amount to much as there was not enough players going forward.
He looked very strong on the ball, especially in the Brazil game, so much that the commentators here screamed" look they cant take t´he ball from him" but hey they was surely Alexis fanboys ;), still when they where going forward he did have that Lovely nutmeg pass to a player coming into the box in full speed. He also had the very nice pass to the player that hit the crossbar at the end. But on his own not even Alexis can take on the whole Brazil team...

The way he's performing at the minute makes no sense to not give him another season at least. Why go through all the bother of signing that cannibal suarez who you never know when he might implode when you have a player like sanchez who could be about to enter his peak?

Sanchez is only a year younger and you be deluded to think he will be half as good in his peak.

Zubizarreta: "Alexis and Pedro rumours? There have been offers for Alexis, we'll see what will happen. Pedro is not for sale." #fcblive

You have to wonder why.

I wonder how much Lucho has to do with it. He's got to be expecting that Suarez (or another CF) arrives, probably meaning that Pedro will be a good trooper and accept a fringe role, while Alexis won't be content with a role like that.

Either way, it pretty much looks like confirmation that Alexis is off. What a god damn shame.

I agree on all points.

he,he who is exaggerating, every time he gets the ball? really? I would say without him Chile didnt have much of a goalscoring threat at all in this tournament. Against Spain, who took the ball and created the oppurtunity for the first goal- Sanchez, Who took the freekick that lead to the second goal-Sanchez, who Scored their first goal -Sanchez, Who scored their last goal-Sanchez, who nearly got them through with pass to they guy that hit the bar with 1,5 minute left-Oh Sanchez, Who have completed the most successfull dribbles in this tournament- well that got to be Ronaldo? eh ok Messi then? - Sanchez. Your not honest in your valuation of the player. Ok you dont like him and prefer someone else , fine, your entitled.
Statistics is the best argument, always. Of course.

But it's not good to base everything on statistics, then other aspects and factors play into what makes a good football player.

The fact that Sanchez is the most successful dribbler can even turn into something negative. That he dribbles so much could also mean that he often takes the difficult option before it simple and complicate situations.

In my eyes, a good football player is someone who makes the team better. The best soccer player in Chile, Brazil and Argentina does not always mean that he's best player for Barcelona.

A Seydou Keita can sometimes be a better player for Barcelona than Aguero, if you say so. Although Agueros dribbles, goals and assists is better statistically ways.

Feels like I broke the world record in clichés now, but yeah ..
