the commentators in my stream (not phil schoen) said that he had an impressive first half. :D
i don't under stand why some of these journalists are so overly diplomatic. as for gomes, i think he good enough to play for lower mid-table team as he did for the past 2 years.

I respect the fact that he's trying and deploying efforts .. he's trying to making it work , but he just doesn't have it in him. good for counter attacks, bloody awful in possession phases.

Sell him to Juve, who seems to be interested in him for the summer, according to Gazzetta and Mundo, their alternative is supposedly Rakitič. Would rather see Gomes go, even though he's 6 years younger, but he's so painfully unfit for us it's sad. Wouldn't mind letting go of Rakitič as well, but that's only if we get Verratti or Thiago, otherwise just sell Gomes and bring Samper back. So so stupid that we even bought Gomes, he was exactly the kind of buy you would expect from Madrid...we bought him to steal him from them, when we should've just kept Samper and Munir as well. And leave Paco in Valencia. Even if that meant Gomes went to Madrid, i think he'd be the same 'success' as another player we were fighting for him with them, i mean Danilo of course. And with another manager and Board we would do exactly that, but this 'galactico' Board and stupid Lucho are incompetent and like to spend money a little too much, especially for players who clearly aren't up to Barca standards.

Thats the thing. He thrived on Benfica with Jorge Jesus on a fast transitions style, which is pretty much the opposite of Barça. He is quite good but i think our style is his main problem.

I wonder if his supporters ( serghei ) think he's still untransferable and will be a 100m player one day.

And if so, I'd really love to hear why.

I hope their interest is real, and they make an offer we can't refuse. I think he'd fit them much better.

Because in spite of his mistakes under pressure, he initiated several very dangerous counterattacks by playing precise passes from deep right to Messi, Neymar, Suarez. Besides that, I also saw some short spaces combinations, and first time passes that show the potential is there to be seen by anyone who wants to see it.

Watched the game on dazn - streaming service in the german-speaking world - and the commentators there said he is pretty useless and the team carries him with them.

Gomes is kind of a miracle for me. There are moments where he shows his class, but there are on the contrary much more moments where he loses the ball needlessly. In these moments he looks like a supermodel that has won a spot in this team, having no idea what he is doing on the pitch. Guess this is also a problem of the role he should play in our system. He is not that kind of tiki taka player. When I remember his time in Valencia, he was more the player who runs fast (I mean Gomes-fast and not Neymar-fast) through midfield and tries to make something happen around the box. He is not good in tackling too, which is a problem because of how important this is for an Barcelona-midfielder.

Imo, in 12 Months, we will all realize:
1. Rakitic is old and done
2. Iniesta is old and almost done
3. Gomes, probably not a good fit for our style, even though he has some talent
4. Denis, a squad player, nothing more, as expected by a lot of users since his arrival
5. Rafinha, classical squad player and nothing more
6. Samper, not good enough either
7. Roberto, just another squad level CM, who can defend better than Rafinha/Denis, but has far less creativity and attacking talent that those two

Imo, since the board is slow and we need to reach the bottom until they make changes, we won't buy new midfielders this summer (I don't think that we'll buy any players except a 50M RB and maybe some random CB).
But in a summer of 2018 and 2019, we will again buy 2-3-4-5 new CM guys, whom I love to call "attempts" (and not: a guy for the next 10 seasons).

We tried with Gomes+Denis, for now it seems that they won't make it.
Alena is one option for the future.
1-2 guys out of Denis/Gomes/Rafinha/Roberto will stay as squad players, since you always need 1-2 squad level CMs.

But at the end of a day, we still need at least 2 new CMs who will be starters in 2019, 2020, 2021 etc.

None of the current guys seems like a future starter of Barca's level.
I also had the highest hopes in Gomes who has way higher ceiling than quite limited Rafinha, Denis and Roberto.
But if even he won't make it here, then we are in troubles.

Maybe we'll sell Neymar and get rid of his wages by 2018' and reinvest in our midfield to try to bring our passing-football back.

He will never be good for us, he is struggling and he is trying but the only truth is he will never fit in. He is bad in every single aspect of the game (defense, attack, possession, playmaking...). Maybe he has good potential but he doesn't fit our system of play at all.

That being said I am 100% sure we will force him for at least one more season since selling him would mean some people in our management would have to admit they made a huge mistake by signing him for such amount of money. Same goes for Paco.

Or maybe we'll bring a coach that will know how to utilise our midfielders better before we write them off all as not good enough. ;)

You are right.
I don't think that we'll sell anyone this season.

Also, I don't believe that we will buy anyone except an expensive RB this summer.

I have said a lot of times that I think that this team is weaker and weaker each new week (low motivation, some bad players, Lucho being bad etc).
But we have a lot of problems in player's quality, which is often masked by Messi's brilliance.
This rooster is far from world class.

Anyway, imagine that we lose La liga and a CL this season.
Barto won't sell anyone and we will just continue with the same squad into a new season.

Maybe we'll get a new coach in a summer (but I am not 100% sure about that either. Lucho could stay, sadly).
If Lucho stays, we'll continue with the current crap except that we'll fall down more and more each new week.
If we get a new coach, what can we change?
We can't sell any of MSN.
we won't sell Iniesta and Busi.
Gomes and Denis will get another chances.
We will get a new RB.
There is no point in changing Cbs or Lbs.

So, we are not willing to change anyone.
Only guys like Rakitic, Cillessen and Paco could lose their job here.

People here are quite sure that once when Lucho will be gone, we will be quite different.
But again, with exactly the same rooster, and if we won't sell/buy anyone this summer (or if those will be minor changes) I don't see how a new season can be different than the current one.

Imagine a new coach here, and he still has to play with:
MSN (Neymar all the time)
Old Iniesta-poor Gomes-Busi in midfield etc.
Raki will probably get sold, and if you don't want to play with Gomes, whom will you play? With squad level players Denis/Rafinha/Roberto? They surely won't bring trophies here.

So, when you put it all on paper, the board probably won't sell Neymar, Gomes, Denis this summer.

That means=exactly the same team in a new season+RB.

I just don't see how that team will magically start to play better only because we have a new coach and nothing else changed.
A slight improvement is possible (since we are extremely bad currently), but it won't be good enough for la liga and a CL.

Or maybe we'll bring a coach that will know how to utilise our midfielders better before we write them off all as not good enough. ;)

Ok

But for example Rafinha or Roberto (even Denis).
It doesn't seem as their problem is a bad coach.

They just seem like not too good and that's it.

Lucho is far from being perfect and like many others I questioned and keep on questioning some of his decision but I think the midfield problem doesn't solely fall on him.
