I don't want to write him off completely. Remember Vidal? Maybe Gomes will take it up a notch soon.
Problem is he doesn't have the atributes for a Barça midfielder. He'd be a great fit for a team like Juve.
Gomes + Cash for Dybala?
He was ran over by bilbao players in the 1st half. Improved only after athletic players dropped intensity. he can rest Busi at easier matches at home, but I'd still prefer Roberto as Busi's sub.
I'm usually one of the last people on these forums to write off players but man even I'm down to glimmer of hope on this guy.
It's not even so much about his potential as a footballer, it's his natural physical ability that worries me. He's so slow in speed and reaction. He also has very poor agility. It's not like Busi is agile either, but he is a genius footballer, something Gomes clearly isn't.
He will always been hindered by these things no matter how much he improves footballing wise. I just find it hard to believe he will become a fluid midfielder in a the Barca midfield.
tbf he was the player who ran the most in the 1st half and the one with 2nd most accurate pass IIRC ,not sure about the whole game as I missed rest of the game and didn't check that stats. tough to say he was the reason Bilbao ran over us.
He has gr8 height, good strength, passing and ability to retain the ball
He is the guy who doesn't do lots of mistakes but really doesn't do anything because of how passive he is in that system
I think he can become a solid sort of jack of all trades but master of none type of player.
But we already have Sergi Roberto and he's better at that role.
