Paco and Gomes were nothing special at all in Valencia. Why do people constantly claim they were so good? They werent.

Umtiti was a class player and anyone who watched him in Lyon could see that, so its not surprising he would be a great purchase.

Who is saying that and what has it got to do with Umtiti?

Denis has shown a lot more, even with a lot less playing time than Gomes. Gomes is young, but he won't able to become something he's not. A new coach won't be able make him faster, or good on tight spaces, for example.

And Busquets showed his qualities from day one. He didn't need 2 full seasons, or cost 35m euros. Really bad comparison to make. Gomes was bad scouting, and/or Lucho believing he could be something he's not.

Denis had a year in our B-team, so he has some experience with Barça-football which Gomes hasn't. Denis had some good performances, but failed to make it into the CL squad so he is nowhere near of being a reasonable option.

I didn't compare Busquets to Gomes, I compared Pep to Lucho on giving homegrown players a chance to become first team players. Pep is a much better coach when it comes to refining young players. I don't expect Lucho to transform Gomes into Pirlo or Xavi, but I ask him to refine Paco, Gomes and Denis. None of them made a step forward since Lucho is their coach and this is a worrying sign.

Denis is not a reasonable option, but gomes is? I fail to see how. Denis is a better fit than gomes, though he also isn't Barça level. Making the cl squad is not really something to measure quality.

Also, Gomes is not home grown, another reason why the comparison still makes no sense. Gomes won't make a step forward here, regardless of the coach. Unless the system was completely changed, which no one will do for him either.

Many players take time, a year to settle in a new club, but rarely have any of those players showed as little as Gomes. Age isn't the problem here.

Gomes just doesn't suit the way we play. He's the antithesis to a Barcelona midfielder.

You only give young players time when they've shown you they're capable of being better than they are currently showing, whether that be in the lower levels or in the previous team. Munir was given time because he was the hottest thing out of La Masia at the time. Rafinha was given time because he was a starter for an upper table Celta team in his debut season. Mats was given time because he was a top keeper in Germany. Neymar was given time because he costed us both arms and several legs along with a few hookers. Suarez was given time because he was certifiably the best striker on the planet. And in the coming years, Samper and Alena will likely be given time, as they're also hot prospects of La Masia.

Gomes doesn't have anything even remotely close to any of that, though. He deserves time as much as players like Song or Douglas or Chygrinski did. Some players just aren't good enough and no amount of time will magically morph them into being Barca quality and even if it all we needed was to let him play like this for 1, 2, or 3 seasons, is it really worth it to keep losing while we wait?

I don't think Lucho is capable of getting the message or learning from his mistakes. That would be inconsistent with how he's managed the team even during the treble season. I fully expect Gomes to start.

There is a strong possibility that this player could be the worst player ever to have donned the shirt of Barca. He could be ridiculed for centuries to come.

Hes not gonna throw Gomes to the wolves like that. If Mathieu is avaliable, he'll play in a three man defense with Pique and Umtiti while Masche plays as a CDM.
