You only give young players time when they've shown you they're capable of being better than they are currently showing, whether that be in the lower levels or in the previous team. Munir was given time because he was the hottest thing out of La Masia at the time. Rafinha was given time because he was a starter for an upper table Celta team in his debut season. Mats was given time because he was a top keeper in Germany. Neymar was given time because he costed us both arms and several legs along with a few hookers. Suarez was given time because he was certifiably the best striker on the planet. And in the coming years, Samper and Alena will likely be given time, as they're also hot prospects of La Masia.
Gomes doesn't have anything even remotely close to any of that, though. He deserves time as much as players like Song or Douglas or Chygrinski did. Some players just aren't good enough and no amount of time will magically morph them into being Barca quality and even if it all we needed was to let him play like this for 1, 2, or 3 seasons, is it really worth it to keep losing while we wait?
