So, Valencia still haven't made an official announcement about Gomes? He was one of their best players. I'd be like if PSG announced they'd signed Neymar, and he posted a farewell message to the fans, but Barcelona just didn't comment on it for two days, and instead kept posting about upcoming friendlies and stuff. It's really weird.

The deal so far was just a verbal agreement. Enough for Barcelona and Gomes to make the announcement, Valencia is applying a policy of only announcing when it's signed.

This is a decent signing. Iniesta is getting old so we'll have a huge transitional phase in our midfield in the next 2-3 years. Might as well sign them now and not be desperate when we really need mids.

Miguel Rico, did say in his recent article Robert does have a good relationship with Mendes. He also stated Robert met with Gomes a lot this month and in the past and talked to him about joining us.

I doubt Barcelona will announce anything unless it's signed. Perhaps Valencia and Lim are annoyed at Mendes thus the lack of any announcement. There were rumors that there was trouble in paradise.

A pure guessing: there might have agreed several type of deals.
1- with just a certain fee
2-Certain players + fee if they agreed the terms with the player.

So Valencia might be waiting to see if they can announce the deal with a new player coming

That's a possibility, but with Gomes set to be presented in a few days, time is running out for them. Looks like Tello is on his way to Fiorentina again so that leaves Montoya?

While I initially wouldn't loan any player to Valencia, including Samper and Halilovic due to their unstable environment, it seems like they're doing better and starting to look like a stable team with Ayestaran, so perhaps that'd be decent for him if Lucho decides he need a season with regular minutes elsewhere.

The main sports paper in Valencia, Super Deporte, made a poll regarding Gomes departure. 75% of the fans declared they were unhappy with the transfer.
Gomes was the player with most covers in this paper in the last 2 years. A fan favourite, probably their favourite player.

Juventus and United were the first teams I believe to show real interest in Gomes a couple of months back.

I thought it may have been a sure thing of Gomes going to United due to Mou and the Mendes connection. But their were rumors Gomes, wasn't interested in going to United and they cooled their interest in him. Juventus was interested in him as they were looking for another midfielder at the time but they eventually got Pjanic and the rumors cooled down a bit.

Sport was actually the first to break our interest in Gomes back in June I think. at first I didn't believe it since the money that was being thrown around for him and Valencia rumored to be turning down huge offers for him I thought their was no way we could get him.

MD eventually caught on and said the same, Lucho and Robert liked Gomes and were possibly making a move but with the price it was going to be a hard one to pull off. Miguel Rico even said that Gomes buyout clause rose to 115 Million Euros in July.

With Rumors of Pogba being sold Juventus reignited their interest in Gomes, and Add Real to the picture and Chelsea as well I didn't think we had a chance until a couple of days ago we managed to beat Real,Chelsea and Juventus for him.

Marca said Zidane seen him as a rotational player for Modric and wanted him since they also Missed out on Kante and Pogba. Juventus likely saw him as a good Pogba replacement and Chelsea were after another CM and they seen Gomes as an option as well.

A lot of top teams were after his signature and it feels pretty good we beat out other top teams for him.
