He genuinely played well vs Celta, you should not be biased, people should recognize a good perfomance when they see one. Curious what he can do today, he must keep up his form.

Don't bother man. These people have judged Gomes @ Anoeta even before the game has started. If he plays like shit he should be criticized but could people at least wait for the game to be played.

I said maybe 1 sentence about Gomes at Anoeta, the rest I made my argument about why I thought he wasn't as good as portrayed vs Celta. If he does well today he will have proved me wrong on that point but you can't act like there isn't a huge body of past play to judge Gomes off of. Historically, his worst performances were in games of high pressure and tough defenses.

Gomes played well vs Celta. Not great, but well. And he played well vs Celta away too. You can see a lot of improvements. Uses his body better, is more combative, presses better, is not afraid to take more risks.

I'd say he's our 3rd best attacking midfielder after Iniesta and Coutinho atm.

He has gotten better but that initial bar was set incredibly low, to the point where we regularly expected and got disasterclass performances from him and it was impressive if he didn't. Even now he is benefitting from the gift of low expectations, the closest thing he had to a created chance vs Celta was an offside pass to Suarez and less than a handful of other impressive actions (impressive by standards for an average player).

He's using his body better, fouling a lot less, and is a bit more engaged in collective buildup play. All of this still hasn't amounted to any useful production/output yet. He's received wayyy more benefit of doubt than anyone else has. To this day I'll still say Arda is better than Gomes and has produced at least 4 or 5 performances better than Gomes' best at Barca, yet he is seen as the bare bottom trash at this club and (rightfully) has no business playing here.

Passed forward to Alba on the run on the left which almost resulted in goal.

Had numerous other quick passes forward or into feet. They are all on his highlights.
