Another average game. Good first half, second half just disappeared. He's got good movement on the pitch without the ball and his physique gives him advantage when challenging for the ball. But these qualities are not enough to influence Barcelona games.

Just needs games to build his confidence

Yeah he did. Name me one technical or physical quality he offers to the team. He has absolutely nothing. No speed, no technique, no passing, slow thinker, atrocious finishing, poor in air despite his frame and not much use when defending. He is a terrible player.

You didn't watch him the other day evening , clearly

That's not valid anymore. 15 months since he joined Barcelona and we are still discussing the "confidence" thing. Actually he seem to have a lot of confidence when he tries those shots (that never hit the target for some reason), gets in the way of Messi or dribbles awkwardly. Also his two misses against Real Madrid at Bernaleo are hard to forget. I expect (and wish!) him to be featured less for the rest of the season, as Paulinho falls back in the rotation due to Coutinho's arrival.

Agree with the last two comments completely. Alena needs to be promoted in the summer. And it's time for the Board to face the truth, Gomes was more or less brought in as a 'victory' over Madrid not getting him. His purchase is like Arda, only that he was brought as an election tactic. The Board are doing well lately, with buying and selling the right players, now it's just time to do the same with Gomes as we did with Arda. The only difference here is, we can still get a decent amount of money from selling him, we should at least aim to get the fixed amount we spent on him (35M), that's not unreasonable to expect, especially if he's sold to the Premier League.

Even if he didn't have any fuckups, he was plain as hell in that CDR game vs Celta. Simply executing basic passes and actions correctly isn't a good thing, he was one of the very least impactful players on the pitch while he was on during a game where almost everyone else was playing at their very best. Didn't create anything really and slowed down counterattacks at least two times. But that one chest pass must've impressed people I guess lmao.

Expect more of the same today, have no earthly clue why EV is starting him but I doubt he's useful in a match like this.

Wouldn't expect you to back things up with evidence.

Grand total of 2, 3 passes through any semblance of pressure? Backpasses galore. Roamed around without any real purpose to his play or plan to be useful in buildup, on a day where pretty much every other player was on fire. So few highlight moments that the video editor had to include a clip of a chance that Dembele created and Gomes had literally no part in lmao. He also only showed 1 clip of a counter killed by Gomes even though there was at least one more.

The evidence is watching the game and he did well.

Go delete some more comments on how club will be laughing stock for signing Coutinho. You sure know a player when see one...
