André Gomes

Looks familiar, but I feel like I didn't respond because my ire wasn't directly aimed at Gomes at the time. Hard to say for sure, though. Either way, I'm interested to see what other posts from the "Beginning of the season" you have from me, since that one kind of falls flat and there's surely dozens more for you to pick from, what with how I "Never miss an opportunity" and all.

Jesus Christ, dude

Well, at least it's settled that you've grown up to be a better man than I. Kudos! ;)

Good player, but for a Valencia level club. Not for us unfortunately. In the summer we should inform Mendes to seek him a team.

Slander? What quotes?

Damned clown Is totally uncalled for btw. Very rude!

What's really rude is talking down on someone in such a patronizing way. Be rude and get rudeness in kind.

I guess you're suffering from some sort of mental trauma so allow me to catch you up, you made a comment about me that is false, and then quote mined me to support your argument, except it didn't work out too well for various reasons. So now I'd like to see what else, if anything, you have to support your initial comments, if you want to support said claims as true, which obviously won't be possible, as they're very unlikely to be true.

Thing is it wasn't really false was it? Only thing I got wrong was the time frame, which in turn was irrelevant. I never claimed you spewed any other nonsense than that, so I don't know why you're expecting me to post anything else.

Anyhow, work early tomorrow, and I need sleep badly, so I'll have to leave you stranded. And don't worry, your insult isn't taken to heart, seeing how you apparently have trouble remembering what you write and read when you're all hot and bothered by something.

You directly said I "Never miss an opportunity" which suggests there's a noticeable pattern of that sort of behavior from me, which is false. The two parts of your comment, in both the time frame and the consistency, were both wrong.

I only have trouble remembering the motivation behind what I say when it's something mined from nearly 2 months ago.

Iniesta is a starter, but Coutinho? Yeah, right. How is a player who has never step foot on the Camp Nou a starter? You should probably learn the difference between a starter and a player you expect to start. I'd have thought you'd have learned this lesson after everyone expected to see Roberto to return to midfield after we finally signed a real RB.

I don't know why you want to argue about Coutinho's standing in our team. No matter how you want to name it, Coutinho will start as soon he is fit enough to. If this will be as LA when Iniesta plays too or as CM doesn't make that of a difference since Gomes' chances of starting or even get subbed will decrease (apart from CL). Can't really compare Roberto with Coutinho. Coutinho is 25yo worldclass signing who without a question talentwise is our second best offensive player after Messi.

I mean, maybe if I could believe our only options are Denis and Gomes, you'd have a point, but I genuinely believe that's bullshit. Just because our coach refuses to acknowledge the B team in most cases doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Most of the time it's not about who's "better", either, since we often win by such large margins with Gomes and/or Denis doing fuck all the entire game.

You talk about assumptions and throw in B-team players? We are not at the training so we can't say if Alena does well there. You know what it is with B-team players and fans? They are not always as good as their hype suggests.

Disagreed. First half of the season saw players like Deulofeu, Paco, Digne, Mascherano, Semedo, Paulinho and (early on) Denis all get a decent amount of minutes, and none of those were considered to be part of our strongest XI. And once again, our team is only down 1 midfielder from our usual roster. Coutinho might as well still be in Liverpool for all the minutes we miss from him being hurt.

Valverde always said every player will get his chance to prove his worth to the team. It made sense that Deulofeu got his first since Dembélé joined late with fitness deficit and got injured in his 3rd(?) game. It also made sense that Denis got his chance back then since he also was used to play on the wing. Rotation between Semedo and Roberto was more or less a competition for the spot since none of the two was a clear starter. Iniesta played nearly every game and this is the position Gomes is planned for. Gomes was a month injured too so no wonder that he was the last who got the chance of playing consecutive minutes.

Assumptions that are almost certainly wrong. Unless we're just gonna throw Gomes into the deep end in our knockout games of the CL. You'd probably say Valverde has no choice but to do that, too, though, with this type of logic.

We'll see in the coming months. Of course Gomes will get minutes in CL as sub. He has no choice but to do that as long as Gomes is the one who fulfills his tactical instructions best.

If a coach wants to play a player he likes that player will get minutes. The same types of comments were made about Rafinha the entire time Lucho was here yet whenever he was healthy Rafinha played and he played regularly. Considering Coutinho is cup tied his role with the team is quite likely to be much smaller than you think it will be. The league is all but locked down and with Madrid out of the Copa that's probably not going to be very tough, either. If Gomes gets benched for a player who can't play in our biggest games of the season, and is suddenly thrust into playing those games instead, the team will be weaker.

Give any B team player the amount of time Gomes has had and they could quite possibly turn out better. Gomes has been terrible for a year and half. The average B team player is written off for not living up to their hype after just a game or two. If we're forced to use shit players I'd rather use players who are inexperienced, than players who are just not talented enough.

You're the one who said Valverde was sticking primarily to the strongest XI in most games. Don't make nonsense statements as a rule and try to make excuses for the laundry list of exceptions.

We'll see in the coming months. Of course Gomes will get minutes in CL as sub. He has no choice but to do that as long as Gomes is the one who fulfills his tactical instructions best.

Which is why the notion of Gomes dropping down the pecking order so significantly is a laugh and a half.

What a fuckin signing! What an amazing surprise! A genuine quality player to backup rakitic and iniesta alongside the younger talents rafinha and Denis

Our midfield depth issues have been solved! We will be fresh going to the end of the season and if someone gets injured homes is good enough to start cl knockout games

My first post in this thread
