Fucking class, can't wait to see more of his "solid" matches!

He started only in 4 of those 11 games and all these 4 were tough away matches - Atletico M., Bilboa, Sociadad and Betis. Had he played more at Camp Nou against bottom feeders maybe we saw better stats.

If he's playing in a more defensive role what do you expect? You have Messi, Dembele, Iniesta, Suarez to do the rest. Why don't you do a stat on how many interceptions, tackles and successful passes he makes to keep the team ticking over.
first comment below i've seen  luckily for gomes we have messi, suarez and iniesta who will do the rest

He's not any defensive either. He provides almost nothing except for passing, and I'm not sure why someone like Alena aint capable of doing a job like him. People going serious lengths in defending him, but fact is he aint nothing special. Some people say he is in a more forward role, after that people say his in a deeper role, then people say he helps the team, but again in what way? Someone said he helped in "pressing" and act like no other can press the wat he did lol.

Stats showed he took more shots per game than Denis but failed to register any of them in target. He gets dispossessed an average 4-5 per game more than Suarez or Messi at times. He hasnt won many duels per game, and is worse than Iniesta who is a person much smaller than he is. His dribbling per game is almost 0. He is passing safe, every match but he aint Xavi either, all he is doing is passing to the nearest person and gets praised like God when he made two long balls in one game.

Gomes could bag a hattrick of assists next week (very unlikely), it is still ridiculous how some of the fans can go all the way in defending him, considering his contributions up till now. In his whole career in Barca, he only has 3 goals and 1 assists. Let that sink in.

Is it a coincidence the doom and gloom merchants who liked to tell us Valverde was a fraud, cant wait to see Barca get thrashed, Messi should leave etc are the ones who are latching on to this thread?

I think not.

He gets credit for making the most obvious passes possible, and these aren't xavi passes, just to be clear, these are this guy is here pass him the ball then run away into a crowd of players, & repeat over the entire course of the game.

Unless of course I am completely & totally free with all the time and space in the world, then I'll try a long pass and people will praise me for that.

Nah he doesn't.

He gets called shite no matter what.

Works both ways.

He plays too often nowadays to be considered a squad player at this point. Denis, Digne, Paco... those are squad players. Not a guy who is playing damn near every week.

Look at our injuries:
Coutinho
Iniesta

Recognise something? He is just the best of the rest and the one Valverde trusts the most. The coach who cleaned up the mess and made Barcelona great again. Titles are won at the end of the season, but right now it is hard to critize something when you consider our injuries. Gomes wouldn't have started in recent games with a fit Coutinho or Iniesta.

Serena will bash Gomes and EV at any given opportunity. During the beginning of the season he would criticise EV for trusting Gomes too much despite him barely having gotten any minutes, and now he complains when he's playing because of injuries.

I haven't made any of these comments, although I have been critical of Valverde in the past.

Beginning of the season? What are you even on about? My main gripe was Rakitic during the early days and rightfully so. You must have me mixed up with somebody else.

Ah, Coutinho. The guy who hasn't played for us even a single time. What an enormous loss. I think I get it now. The reason Gomes was benched so often in the first half of the season was because he just couldn't get into this side that was so overflowed with such incredible talent. My bad.

Whether rumors like this are true or not, the favor certain players get that make it possible to even believe such comments is the main problem.

What is the above quote about then?

Well, I think most agree that Gomes can be a good player? He should just play elsewhere, where he is a better fit.
It is just really hard to see him ever have a true breakthrough here, and make the most of his qualities.
The way I see it, his level is below that of a barca-player, but in the end that is not his fault.

What is the above quote about then?

Okay, two things.

1.) One month ago is not "Early in the season".
2.) I said "Certain players", because Valverde has tended to rely on players regardless of form. At the time my main gripe was Rakitic, as I said before.

This is damn near nothing to go off of. If you're going to quote mine you're gonna have to dig a little deeper.
