André Gomes

Irrational hearted of Gomes here. Don't forget he joined us over Real Madrid when the whole world wanted him.

I still rate him higher than Arda Turan that lazy bastard was our worst ever signing and cost us last season the double.

If Ernersto sellers Rafinha I will be very upset too, Denis has so much potential.

What if we invade your workplace and break your legs whenever you are underperforming?

If I'm underperforming my manager who's got a common-sense will fire me straight away not like our barca shit manager .

I also hope next time you fail whatever the fck you do in life, you will be punished by the same method, seems legit.

I have been trying all my life to fail at anything I do but so far no success.

Gomes has high chances to stay.

Expecting Gomes to leave is the same as expecting that Semedo will turn into a starting Rb and that Roberto will be a midfielder.
That won't happen.
Ev has it's own pecking order.
You can like it or not, but he won't change something only because fans don't like it.

Maybe you are right: Valverde won't gamble on youngster Alena and half-season player Arthur next season, so Gomes could stay.

Although the second point about Roberto in midfield, I could actually see that happen (not only as wishful thinking, like selling Gomes).
Roberto has played something like 5 games in midfield this season, and because of not favouring Semedo at the beginning (except in CL), Valverde hasn't used it since. Still, Semedo played against some of the toughest opposition we have faced, when he was ready: Juve x 2, Atletico, Valencia (although not in Copa), and almost all CL-games. That points towards not being "out of favour", imo.

Semedos recent injury came at a crucial time - and I know it is counterfactuals now - but I really think we would see more lineups with Semedo at rightback and Roberto in midfield if he had stayed fit. I think Valverde would pick Roberto over Gomes and Paulinho right now, but it is hard to prove for me.

A reminder for the future:
When you guys look at Youtube compilations of players in whom we are interested, be cautious.

Currently 9 out of 10 Barca's fans think that Gomes is the worst player ever and look how good he looked on Youtube compilations when we bought him:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTOzWWgC6u4

He was young (22), he was good, had potential.
He had tons of years infront of him to develop, improve and to turn into an awesome player, right?

Did he look bad on Youtube videos when we bought him? No.
When you'll watch Arthur's, Frenkie De Jong's and similar compilations in the future, be at least slightly cautious.

I am not too sure that we will sell Gomes.
According to yesterday's game, he is currently a 2nd pick among workhorses (Rakitic, Gomes, Paulinho).

If Iniesta will be gone or if he will be benched, that offers even more playing time for Gomes in the future.

I get it, people think that Dembele will start to play a lot and that Gomes and Paulinho will lose their minutes.
But if Ev will win titles this way, there is nothing till now which indicates that he will make a sudden 180* turn.

Denis and Rafinha will be sold.
Samper won't return.

Gomes, Busi, Raki, Paulinho/Vidal.
That will be our lineup.

At least even biggest Gomes' haters will admit that Gomes is offering more as a footballer than Paulinho currently.

You forget Arthur is on his way.

You forget Arthur is on his way.

Arthur will come in January of 2019 and hasn't played a minute of football in Europe.
Unless he is the next Xavi (which 99% isn't), even if he will have an impact in our team, it will probably be around 2020 at earliest.

Gomes played 2 years in La liga and looked good=when he came to Barca, 90% of people say that he is a disaster
Denis played 2 years in La Liga and looked good=when he came here, he is even worse than Gomes
Semedo was a beast in Portugal=in Barca he is unable to make 3 decent attacking actions over 20 games
Mina never played in Europe=he probably won't get too many minutes this season either
Paco played in La Liga and was called to an NT team=in Barca he is struggling

So, when you look at our recent young players, how they looked before Barca and at Barca, or how much time they needed to adapt (do I need to mention Dembele?) and how many chances EV is giving to them, I guess that it is fair to assume what I have written above: even if Arthur is a real deal, it will take at least 2 years until he will a significant impact and a number of minutes.
And if he is the same type of a deal as our recent signings, then you know the answer, he won't be any threat to anyone.

So, all in all, Arthur (or Alena) won't be a threat to Gomes in 2018/19 season.
Maybe someone could start to be a threat in 2019/2020 season.

No matter how bad you guys think that Gomes is, already under 2 different coaches he was higher in a pecking order than:
1. Arda
2. Denis
3. Rafinha
4. Samper

99% of users of this forum haven't watched a single minute of Arthur actually playing.
But a lot of guys already think that he is a real deal or that we should now sell Gomes, Rakitic, Gomes, Rafinha, Denis in order to play him and Alena.

Slow down...
Let's see how he will actually perform on a pitch.
Even way better players tuned into donkeys when they actually started to play for us.

Nope. Gomes is above those in the pecking order because Lucho had a more direct playing style and Valverde likes workhorses. It doesn't mean he is better than any of them...

In my opinion he is the worst of a bad bunch and it's visible in the stats and to the eye. He loses the ball more than Dembélé, Coutinho and Denis but he doesn't come with their attacking prowess. He basically attempts more tackles but that's about it.

And no. I don't think Arthur is the real deal yet even though I've watched 4 of his matches in which he was very good. I'm just glad that our recent signings have been towards more technical players than workhorses.

You forget Arthur is on his way.

And Alena will be a squadmember next season as well. But is that enough?

Next season we will have a good blend of experience, prime and youth:
DM or Double Pivot
Busquets (30) 2021 [(age next season) contract expires]
Rakitic (30) 2021
Arthur (22) 202?
Samper/Oriol (23/19) 2019/20??

CM
Roberto (26) 2022
Rakitic

OM
Coutinho (26) 2023
Iniesta (34) 20??

So we can field a 4-3-3 or a 4-4-2:
4-3-3:
Busquets (Rakitic)
Roberto (Arthur/Alena) - Coutinho (Iniesta)
Messi
Griezmann Suarez
(Dembele) (Dembele)

4-4-2:
Busi Raki
Roberto - Coutinho
Messi
Suarez

Then a bench of Iniesta, Rakitic or Roberto, Arthur and Alena could be enough, imo.
This would take Roberto as a midfielder serious (and counting on Semedo, as I do), and take Alena as a serious option too.
A solid midfield in a 4-4-2 is still possible with these players, although it would create problems with picking the attacking players, especially if Griezmann comes.
Although Valverde might prefer to keep either Paulinho or Gomes as well (at least until January).

But it's ok to shout Bartomeu Dimite Ya? Double standards are pathetic...

Barto is a slightly different case he is single handedly trying to destroy all the club has stood for over the years in pursuit of financial gain for the club and possibly himself.

Valverde was understandably mad when a section of the fans started booing.

The crowd in some way has a right to voice their dis satisfaction but jeering a player really doesn't do any good at all.

Having said that, i'm still surprised that he actually played in a game like that.

You get the feeling that his attitude and mentality is right, but with the ball at his feet he is pretty much a massive liability out there.
