online trolls can be cruel no doubt about it but in his position he shouldn't replying to them  he should close his insta/social media and focus on his football

Agreed, he could have just ignored them but we all are curious about what people say about us, I bet nobody is different.

He does need to develop a thicker skin for sure.

Imagine all the abuse Douglas has gotten and yet you don't see him replying to comments on his instagram telling people to fuck off.

I mean if Douglas who is considered one of the worst signings we have ever made can handle people shitting on him that doesn't really speak well of Gomes at all.

Hahahha what a loser. Good god, we cannot sell him fast enough.

Yeah, omg what a loser!
Especially considering he's a great looking pro footballer who has already earned more than enough money to live off of for the rest of his life.

LOSER

He does needs to go asap, though.

I don't know, people are different. For example some folks are content with having a job and getting a paycheck, some folks have higher expectations of themselves and if they don't perform to their own expectations, they are the first people to tell themselves that they need to do better. Douglas might have been just happy that he is getting a nice paycheck from us no matter if he is getting any minutes to play whereas Gomes belongs to the latter camp. Just my guess.

And some people have higher level of self-awareness compared to others.

Your point being, a rich, good looking footballer cannot lose his dignity in public?

Jeez, what a hunk, with a stellar personality. Hasn't made himself look like a clown at all.

Lost his dignity? For that rather innocent little (pointless) comeback? Give me a fucking break...

We sure do have differing views on the meaning of the word loser, and here's a hint; your's is the wrong one ;)

Gomes is close to as big a loser as you can be while having status such as his. Yeah, he's obviously more successful and wealthy in the grand scheme of things than I'll probably ever be, but I'm better at and am more respected in what I do, than he is playing football. I'm also a lot more mentally tough, and as someone who's struggled with genuine mental issues, I laugh at him crying over online comments.

Maybe if he takes a step down to the middle class you can put him on such a pedestal as someone better than us but when weighing gold, you can't look at your smallest piece and compare it to people who are still mining silver.

Usually, but just think how dumb that curiosity(pride) is. You can t really know what other person thinks, even if he/she compliments you. Plus that opinion is not fixed, so you can t really be satisfied. And in any case that opinion comes from other persons mindset...it s reflects him/her not you. Pride is a perfect example of illusionary nature of emotions.

I ve been saying for a long time, that the biggest potential for a progress in sports lies in psychology. Perhaps this guy would be a hell of a player if he was shown how to grow mentaly/emotionaly.

Honestly, we have no idea what he's like, and how deep his mental problems run, and it's both pointless and ridiculous to compare his problems to your own and somehow claim you're the winner there.

It's a known fact that people in the limelight often have a hard time coping with the pressure (a pressure you and I will never be able to fathom), and he's hardly the first footballplayer out there to go through a rough patch. His fault - what apparently makes him a loser - is that he couldn't ignore the negativity that surrounded him on the social medias.

Unless you are some elite person in the 1%, this is a pretty hilarious statement. And I only say this because I am friends with quite a few professional footballers who have made me understand just how hard it is to make it.

If you consider all the people in this world who play football, to get to the level that Gomes has is i.e. professional status at the top league European football, then it is something that over 90% of professionals in this industry cannot manage to do.

This is like saying a student at Harvard or MIT who has grades below the school average is not respected or smart...or the lowest performing investment banker at Goldman Sachs is incapable of working in banking...at the end of the day they are still at Harvard/MIT or working at Goldman Sachs.

Using that logic you could say you are better and more respected at your job than Mark Zuckerberg. Seeing he is facing huge amount of public and political backlash and his company is losing billions in stock value.

Isn't 'social media' training a thing with elite athletes?

Andre should know better, you should never read the comments, anywhere.

If Messi, who's just about the greatest player in history must get a barrage of daily hate mail, what does Gomes think he'll get out of reading and responding to his own ones after the two seasons he's had here?

If you have sponsors who demand you to keep a social media image, play along but don't peruse redundant nonsense. Of course people will be fucking with him, and now that he showed he's easy to fuck with, they'll fuck with him even more.

Andre seems like an all right guy, but he needs to stop being daft. Him spilling his guts to the press about pressure last season shouldn't have happened either. His future earnings are in play here as well. Clubs don't queue up to sign mentally weak athletes, especially when they cost millions. Deal with it in private.

The fact that you say "we have differing views" and then proceed to say mine is the "wrong" one clearly tells me that you don't understand the meaning of having different views

And btw, this isn't the first time he has replied to a tweet ridiculing him. He comes across like a loser, and yes that's my "view".
