This team is not capable of going far in the CL unless it gets a very easy schedule until the semis so Valverde is definitely out next season.

some folks having short term memories..only few months ago, every one wanted him out and rightfully so.. Now he has found a good team at his level..I am happy that he has settled down and playing well because we may get more money for him if the board recognize the opportunity here..

PS: Before people get at me for saying "at his level", I mean the pressure.. I accept Everton plays better than us at the moment but the pressure of playing for Everton is no where near the pressure of playing for us and not everyone can handle that as Gomes has shown unfortunately for him.

In Barcelona we are slow and conjested. He is not a midfielder to "create" time on the ball and struggled with our space and sideways game. Coming back here won't end kindly for him. Compare how Arthur handled coming into our 11 and Gomes.

What can happen now though is EPL clubs outside of City will start looking at Andre Gomes as a serious candidate as one of the best midfield options in the league. You better hope Mourinho stays at Utd as he and Mendes could orchestrate serious money for Gomes.

Over the last 20-30 years there have been numerous similar examples of players who were very good or awesome in smaller teams (where they were a brain of a team), but when they come to Barca, they suck.
Alexis is quite a good player for NT and Arsenal.
At Barca, at least for me, he was truly horrible.

This is not about EV, we are just a too big club for majority of players.
Even in the future, there will be tons of players who will look good at Barca, only to come here and play mediocre and later they will be good again in some other, smaller team.

For example, Rafinha, Denis, Paco, Semedo, Malcom, they are all players who would look very, very good in teams like Roma, Milan, Everton, Lyon , Monaco and similar.

There's a massive difference between the elite players like Suarez, Neymar, Hazard etc and Messi and Ronaldo and then the drop down to the merely top players is greater again. When you are used to seeing those players play every week even comparing the likes of Ronaldo and Neymar to Messi it's natural to judge the rest unfairly.

It's going to be interesting when Messi fades and Suarez retires. So far Barca have failed to really replace Neymar, Xavi and Iniesta (which is understandable) and Messi and Suarez if anything will be harder. But you still have a top squad. It's just not able to blow away everyone in the world like in the past.

Your contemplation flies out of the window, when we compare the selection of players that we usually had (in comparison to other teams) and what we had have/have in last decade. We were only somewhat competitive in eurocups in late 90s because of Rivaldo and single seasons of Figo/R9. The rest was by all means competent bunch of players no way as high overall quality as we have now. The shit football played currently when looking at our prime rivals in Europe, who look a lot better systemically with lesser players in most positions, just can't be explained away by your naval gazing sophistry.

You fail to take into account that we should be comparing not just Barca's different eras, but the overall level of clubs at any given point of time. Right now there are no superpower clubs in the world bar Barca, Madrid and Man City whereas you talk about this Barca as if we are fifth-in-the-league-pre-Ronaldinho Barca. Our resources and financial budget are also immense, which is reflected in the obscene amounts of cash we spend every year to end up playing atrocious football.

Seriously, how hard is it for you to grasp? After Ronaldinho and Pep, Barca have cemented their place as a superpower in world football, whilst you are still stuck in the early 00s. With the way this board is managing our club and running it in massive debts whilst appointing conservative managers like Tata, Tito or EV, however, there is a possibility that we will end up as Milan. Fortunately, revenue, great marketing, Messi and Barca's stature are saving it for us atm.
