A less 'inventive' manager would have followed up his very good game against city with more playing time time but ours has done the opposite because reasons.

The thing is we have Denis & Rafinha who are also young players who need minutes to develop. Lucho can't just focus on developing only one.
Probably at the 2nd half of the season one of them would be the main rotation with Iniesta-Rakitic but I don't think that will happen at the 1st half of the season

Yea let's just keep rotating and starting players despite form and with complete lack of logic. They need time to develop...

And I'd normally be in favor of that but with Iniesta's injury least for a few weeks it wouldn't have hurt to knuckle down a little. We dropped so many points that we wont have many pints to play with when it comes to our annual run of poor form after the new year. Luckily RM are the ones that have the CWC this year so hopefully that will be a factor that balances out the points.

We need victories to win titles at the short term, not "youngster development".

Of course it is important to do the latter, but you NEVER sacrifice the former for it, especially when you already are behind of your rivals.

We need both, and while I think Lucho is doing a mistake I believe he will get things right by the 2nd half of the season
Lucho always seem to push the boundaries with his trials during 1st half of the season and with 6 new players I can't blame him for trying all combinations. This seem to be his philosophy and while it is frustrating it didn't cost us trophies for now.

Here is when things like estimating the potential of a player comes into play. To me, Gomes' potential is considerably higher than that of Rafinha and Denis Suarez. One of these 3 can become a starter in the near future, and that is Andre Gomes. You think you can develop all 3 at the same time? I suppose you can, if you don't mind having an Arsenal-like season. The problem is that Barcelona is not Arsenal.

Do you think Gomes will be starter with Rakitic?b/c for me he look more as a potential replacement for him not for Iniesta actually.
Denis has lot of potential if he learned where he should be when the team have the ball as he tend to go directly to the final 3rd way too early in the play and that put huge pressure on Neymar making him the true AM in the game. If he learned where he should be I think he actually might be closer to Gomes level than we might think
All 3 have lot of potential and still very serviceable for now.You can't play one and ignore the others so early in the season. All will get their minutes.

All should get minutes, but not an equal share of minutes. I liked how we played against City with Rakitic and Gomes in the first half, until the personal mistakes started to creep in. For me, Gomes is a better player, and he's not playing enough minutes. Why was he benched two games in a row after being the best midfielder by far against City, even though he played next to two starters in Rakitic and Busquets?

Being a manager at Barcelona isn't about giving many minutes to everybody. It's about winnning trophies first and foremost, and taking the best decisions in order for that to happen. It's the 2nd time we started on Camp Nou with Denis on from the start against teams who defend well. We lost 1-2 and drew 0-0, while he was almost invisible both times.

I hope he will be in starting 11 today. He needs playing time and few games in a row.

Look at Mateo Kovacic as an examle, last year he did not play regularly and he was awful. This year he got decent amount of games in a row and he is now playing really good. Every player needs minutes and time to be able to shine and a manager who will give him support.

With Lucho system of constant rotation nobody can be in a good form not to mention new players can't adapt. There should also be a strict hierarchy. You just can't have 4 midfield players getting or not getting equal amount of minutes (Denis, Arda, Rafinha and Gomes). By doing that non of them will excel and all will be mediocre, not to mention that Arda can't play in midfield. Manager's job is to choose a player and to stick with him and not to use this alibi rotations all the time.

Lucno needs to make up his mind and chose who is first sub for Rakitic and who for Iniesta and than stick to that decision. Maybe than we could see a true potential of Gomes or Denis or whoever he chooses.
