Well Edu Polo, who's a reliable Journalist for Cadena ser reported that we were willing to spend the cash on a young Forward like Carrasco a few weeks ago.

My theory is they took some of next seasons Budget for this one.

not from what I read on other Madrid forums. Most are not happy about it knowing that we bought him for only 35m. They had an issue earlier with the 60m price tag quoted to them. I would be pissed too if we have bought Gomez for anything close to 60m. So now I'm pleased.

Yeah, it's a great deal just about any way you look at it, tbh. The money is absolutely a bargain - age, talent, character & still far from the finished product. I'm stunned by the deal, did not see it coming and never believed we'd be in for a midfielder nevermind a CM with Gomes' profile. Prefer him to Pogba in terms of overall fit, at a fraction of the fee

Mendes client may present problems down the line but from a sporting & business perspective, very shrewd
