Shame on me, should've checked that. Anyway, bronze will still turn green after being exposed to oxygen and humidity for a long period of time. Too bad, because the statue atm looks great. But it won't in 50 years time...

To be fair, bronze is an alloy composed primarily of copper. That's why the "rusting" you see on bronze is green, identical to copper "rust".
