Andrés Iniesta

the only thing i can critizise about his performance is that he should have completely taken over spain's game. take the free kicks, shoot more often. otherwise, he was very good. i only saw the second half though.

but, i really like iniesta's development over the years from xavi's junior partner to basically spain's zidane. really excited about him next year, maybe this plague of a season with all the major changes will mark the start for Mega-Don!

1st game where he actually played quite poorly. Sure there are bad team performances, but still, even when the team performs badly Iniesta manages to come out of the game with credit. Probably the most consistent midfielder in world football, but it's sad to see. really is.

He is not the type of leader everybody expects, rather the silent thinker behind the one upfront. Feel bad for him as he had to go through this epic loss of Spain, but it only can help him and us to improve!

I think he was trying to pull a Messi- thinking he might single-handedly win the game, since Spain had no control of the game. I can't imagine why he wouldn't make this pass under normal circumstances. Instead, he chose to dribble into the congestion ahead of him. Drew a foul, but a terrible choice, nonetheless, given the acres of space on the right.

should he play against Australia, it would be his 100th cap for spain. probably not the best of occasions, but on the other hand it could be his last game at a world cup, and maybe spain will put out a redeeming vintage performance. also, it could be the last official match he plays together with xavi

Now since Fabregas is gone, I want Rakitic to play in Xavi's role. I had written a lengthy post on how Cesc's inclusion in midfield affected the performance of Iniesta and Neymar. My point was, if Barça were faithful to proper plan A of Barca, 3 midfield, 3 strikers. we would win the league. If Xavi stays despite all those rumors, I dont want Luis Enrique to field 4 midfielders. You can read about, how Cesc Fabregas affected Barca, http://www.barcelonaindia.net/2014/06/importance-of-cesc-fabregas-and-curious_6.html and I also blame Tata Martino for his tactics :http://www.sportskeeda.com/football/tata-martino-wrong-tactics-barcelona/

Feedbacks are welcome.
