Andrés Iniesta

Nah mate, beside you're saying shit about him ( overrated and etc ) he was one of the important players last season, especially champions league and his final match was amazing.
He's not an purely AM under Lucho's system, he should cover up the areas and involve himself in duels much more than he used to, So he can't just focus on his attacking skills plus Rakitic himself doesn't create that many chances you know why ? It's because of Lucho's system. Because they're told ( Rakitic and Iniesta ) to defend well first and creating chances are up to MSN themselves.
And I don't expect you to understand his new role because if you did you wouldn't say all this things and giving us numbers and stats.
PLUS no one here says he should play all 90 minutes because he can't, he would not perform as well as if he gets rest well.

Rakitic has 17 goals in 2 seasons, 9 of which opening goals. 10 assists last year, 6 this year. His role is often much deeper, almost as a second DM and relies a lot more on what Messi's doing than Iniesta. Sure the CMs defend, but you can't just act like they never attack - they do - and more often than not Andres provides very little. I find him to be more effective in the middle third than the final one where he can't shoot or provide a killer ball.

meh, quantity is for clumsy goal hogs like ronaldo or messi. The Don has gravitas, he influenced the birth rate in spain with his scoring. Twice.

The ridiculous thing is that many people in here think Iniesta's standard game is bad. It is world class and nothing else. And when he has moments like he had vs Real that is just a bonus.
Not saying Iniesta does not have bad performances but you have to realize there is no problem with him.

The way Iniesta, Busi, Modric, Kroos, Koke, Vidal, Gündogan, Verratti, Pogba etc. usually perform is simply on the highest level. 9 times out of 10 they play well and have a huge influence on teams that win a majority of their games. If that was not the case, all these players would play for smaller teams and not 50 games a season including Cup Finals every season.

Adding the major defensive improvements and work rate to his game is a major positive for me.

Also, in this last month where everyone was static and passive, he struck me as the guy trying the hardest to push things forward.

Hope he has the gas to give us 2-3 years of this level, i'd take it gladly.

Don't think he got much left in him. Another 2 seasons at most. One of them in the same role as Xavi last season. Buying Pogba next summer is absolutely vital.

He goes for that fancy pass too often, except his execution now is bad. Obviously he is not the Xavi type to just control the game safely and circulate the ball, Iniesta's always been a player who makes the killer pass so his decline is more obvious and painful than Xavi's.

he played a good game , dont know what yall want him to do to be honnest .. he's obliged to defend because the front three doesn't help. he doesn't try fancy stuff ok , but why should he while there is MSN infront of him. why risk loosing the ball
