Andrés Iniesta

I have a question for that. How come nobody was asking for Saul 2-3 months ago? Where were ya'll at?
.

I wasn't asking for him specifically, I said we need an emerging player like that who can reinvigorate the midfield. Pogba or Verratti would be ideal but we couldn't afford them.

Just to hark back to what you guys were saying: stop trying to validate your opinions by shitting on Ronaldo, it's petty, irrelevant to Iniesta, and most of the time wrong (like here). And Iniesta's end product has been shit with years.

He as been off the boil recently, but thats mainly due to Loco's system de-emphasizing the midfield, i remember a few years ago, when we were playing shit, i think it was under Tata is was our best player after messi.

All that being said, to say iniesta is overrate, when you take in entire career into consideration, is a word i can't use here, because this board is very sensitive. But its just

It's evident that we need to give him less playing time next season, like Lucho did with Xavi. Hopefully Arda/Rafinha/Denis (if he comes back) will step up.

Iniesta is still more important than raki for me. He is the only other player along with Messi that brings a calming influence when we lose control of a game and is miles ahead of rakitic in ball retention.

We did that a bit this season, he didn't play 3 games in a row up to April. He did benefit from it too, it's been a better season than last for him. Still the weak link in the team for me.

Who do you support, FC Barcelona or FC Iniesta? Should he remain in the side because he once was a great player and you don't want to hurt his feelings?

It really is astonishing how offended people get over criticism of Iniesta and the frivolous shit they'll bring up to circumvent it.

for his age he did great this season .. the illusionist still has tricks in hig bag , but we need to make that smooth transition , at one point of the season it was like watching " vintage iniesta " , but last mounths like many players has regressed too

6 Ballons for Messi

but what if he wins 7??

I don't support barca but I despise any club that quickly offloads legendary players as soon as they start to fall off.

definitely .. the right thing is to emulate real Madrid who gave raul an open contract .. i mean fuck Financial fair play, fuck titles, fuck sportive objectives.. the most important thing is to honor the legends who apparently play for free.

He should still start big games, just needs to be rested more often.

Totally agree.

I agree this season was overall better for him, but mostly because he needed more than half of last season to get used to Lucho's system.

Don't really agree that he was rested more this season. We didn't really have any midfield option until January because of Rafinha injury and Arda unavailability.

Just a quick look at Iniesta stats.

2014/15: He played 1.590 minutes in La Liga and 2.916 minutes overall in all competitions. He completed (played from first to last minute) just 5 league matches and 12 matches overall.

2015/16: He played 2.084 minutes in La Liga and 3.223 minutes overall with 3 games left. I think he'll most likely play all remaining games in full, so that's about 3.500 minutes or around 600 more than last season. But what's more important for me it's this - he played 19 full matches in La Liga and 26 in all competitions.

He missed 4 league games in November 2014 because of injury and this season he was injured for 3 games in October, so that's about equal.

Last season we had Xavi to sub on in last 20-30 minutes, this season we didn't have anyone except Roberto until January and then Lucho also didn't trust more in Arda and Rafinha to give Iniesta more rest. I think next season that must change and of course Denis is also coming back to give us another option. If we play 3 games per week I think Iniesta shouldn't play more than around 150 minutes in those. Whether he starts one game and is then subbed on in second half in other two or he starts two games but is subbed off in one of them around 60 minute. It's up to the schedule, injuries and form of other players when and how to rotate but I think that should be primary plan to give Iniesta enough rest, especially in first half of the season, so we can keep him fresh for March-May period, when most important games are played.

Nah mate, beside you're saying shit about him ( overrated and etc ) he was one of the important players last season, especially champions league and his final match was amazing.
He's not an purely AM under Lucho's system, he should cover up the areas and involve himself in duels much more than he used to, So he can't just focus on his attacking skills plus Rakitic himself doesn't create that many chances you know why ? It's because of Lucho's system. Because they're told ( Rakitic and Iniesta ) to defend well first and creating chances are up to MSN themselves.
And I don't expect you to understand his new role because if you did you wouldn't say all this things and giving us numbers and stats.
PLUS no one here says he should play all 90 minutes because he can't, he would not perform as well as if he gets rest well.
