This is what happens if Iniesta isn't playing. Instead of brining in 1, just 1 top notch Iniesta backup/rotation player - we have 3 that are not really good enough. Denis, Rafinha and Turan are from being able to reach 60% of what Iniesta brings to our midfield game - and Gomes is more of a Rakitic-light who's still young. If we at least bought a real RB and not that clown Vidal we would have had good cover for Iniesta in Roberto.

No, I forgot. Dude, Denis and Gomes as backups are far far FAR from being able to step in and control a game. Gomes is more of a Rakitic-light and Denis have had some pre-season games with us. And yes Iniesta is still world class, but let's see if we can play him every game 2 more seasons - don't think so. Because we can't even win against some 'easier' teams without our maestro, our midfield is all over the place playing like some mid-table EPL team.

Iniesta doesn't have the freshness anymore. He can be decisive in some moments in a game but generally not very strong, especially in creating space, chances and making the final pass -- let alone his magnificent runs. He's still pretty good but it's time to think for a long-term replacement. I just don't have the faith that Denis Suarez can come up big. Gomes has a physical presence but nowhere nearly as good technically as Iniesta. And Rafinha and Arda are more suited to the flank.

I will watch Barça - Deportivo on Oct 15 with my 7-year old grandson. He proudly wears the #8 in his boys' team. We hope to admire Don Andrés at Camp Nou.
