He didn't have a bad game. If anyone disagrees with me, then I want to know why. He was much better than Busquets - he tackled well, had more pace, was looking confident and the only negative thing I noticed was his positional sense. But that's because he lacks experience.

That forward whose name i cannot spell gave him a torrid time mate. Maybe Fontas needs to be guided by an experienced Centre-Half but he looked exposed and brittle at times today

Will get loads of blame, while he wasn't exactly solid, he wasn't a disaster.

The fact that he was partnered by Busi at CB just didn't help...

 @ the folks now concluding that he isn't Barca material and doesn't have what it takes
Talk about knee-jerk reaction...

He is not Barca material and Busquets should NOT be played as a defender. Fontas is terrible-slow, awkward and not Barca material.

Agirretxe was running circles around Fontás a few times. Difference being tho that Agirretxe is really... and I mean it.. really good. I've always liked him.

While Fontás is only starting his trait. I do believe he will get better the more he'll play, but he needs to be paired with either of Puyol or Mascherano. Our defence was lacking in composure, discipline and communication throughout. We clearly missed a leader-type at the back, and it showed.

Hey guys I'm sure Fontas is slow but what horries me is his lack of attitude/effort, cammon how many times he got passed during the game and in that 2nd goal (besides Villa's horrible pass) he should have time to bother that first guy that touches the ball about five times before passes VV and if not at least he had to get to the ball first then the guy that scores the goal.
He is a young player that needs to show Pep he deserves to be in the team and he is playing like his spot is guaranteed.
When I see Pedrito playing I know that he maybe don't play well but its guarantee that he leaves everything he has on the pitch, that is the right attitude IMO.

 at the folks who easily laugh off people's opinions when they don't have one themselves. I said this even last season whenever he played for us. He just isn't Barca material, sometime a player has quality (i.e. Adriano) but silly little things that can be learnt over time are keeping him from becoming world class, but that's not the case with Fontas. I know you may laugh at this but you can tell after a couple of performances if a player has it or not and IMO Fontas can not be trutsted at CB for a team like Barca, and I don't expect him to become faster, positionally aware and be gifted with immense technique over night, these are things that players either have or don't have not necessarily things that can be learnt (except positioning).

Pep has bought Chygro who is of same mold as Fontas, Rosell sold him because he was expensive but he wont sell Fontas because he is homegrown
I believe he could become top class defender but he may not...

I also thought he could be the "replacement" of Chiggy, but as much as I liked the guy, he wasn't very useful, was he? We could expect better from Fontas as he shouldn't need much time to adapt but to me his future might not be here, let's hope he proves me wrong...

not good enough, lord why has muniesa suffered from so many injuries over the past few seasons, he would be god damn brilliant right now.

Fontas shouldn't be judged based on his performance against sociedad. He was partnered with Busquest(non-defender) and he was responsible for none of those goals. The guy deserves one more chance. If an experienced defender like abidal can concede silly goals, a rookie defender like Fontas is bound to make some mistakes. This is simply part of his learning curve and we have to accept it.

I think he would perform better if he is partnered with Pique. We shouldn't pair him up with Puyol since Puyi is already 33 and hast lost his pace.

chygrynski was never given a proper chance. he was used sparingly his first season and then sold in a bone headed move where we lost 10M on the entirety of the deal. we could definitely use him this year with the lack of cb depth
