It was not just the penalty.... He was no where to be found. Few chances that he was provided he went for the glory instead of staying calm & patient and bringing in the team mates into the attack! Basically he choked, the penalty was just unlucky I suppose

No, the driving force was Carrasco imo- it's not a coincidence they started dominating RM for the rest of the game once he came in- he was the bridge they needed between forward line and defense.. Griezman messed up every half chance he got by rushing his decision making nervously. He's a great, young player....but he definitely choked. Just because he tried to be involved a lot doesn't mean he did well during it.

Simeone should of went for the kill the last 15 minutes when RM were almost all out of gas.

He just renewed his contract until 2021. Great for Atletico to be able to keep him and a very important message to everyone else that this team won't be dismantled.

Atleti staff are smart. Even when they let go of a player they'll make sure the team is not weakened. With Gaitan's arrival and the rumors about their interest in Diego Costa and Mauro Icardi we should expect a stronger Atleti side for the next season.
