If players break rules sponsors can jump the ship. For example doping. Very common for sponsors to leave if that happens.
The club can't tarnish the names of the sponsors. Players are part of the team and represent the team.

Well there is a difference between the company and the personnel.
Of course Barcelona should release a statement straight away that they don't condone any type of derogatory comments to any race, nationality, creed or sex and will look at the matter attentively. Have they released any statement?
