100mil for a player that registered 8 goals and 4 assists in Dutch league. 100mil for the Uruguayan Andy Caroll.

PL is wild.

Super league when?

18 goals and 14 assists in 57 Eredivisie games. Not bad, being harshly judged because of the Ajax CL exit where he was poor in the KO.

Crazy fee though.

No surprises. Yanited are absolutely LOADED. One of the wealthiest clubs around.

Any selling club takes the mick outta them. Leicester laughed all the way to the bank getting 80 mil for Maguire.

Clubs know that Yanited will happily overpay. "Adult Disneyland" after all!

EPL clubs already have Super league money. That's why Barca and Madrid want the same.

Definitely easier to get high transfer fees if associated wages are comparatively low/moderate. Well, unless you are having the buyout fee met like Neymar.

It is not crazy compared to all the other transfers though
This guy is a brilliant striker / winger .. played in the last 9 Brasil games and they are flying .

Dean Gordon aged 21 is expected to go for about 65 million (15 million quid less than Antony )and Gordon has only played 64 senior games since 2017
Scored 5 goals

90m is an insane amount though for a potential world class player coming from Eredivisie. But having read your comment and thought of it, in a way I agree. It is relative to the price of a potential world class player coming from Ajax, and we are at fault for it:-

De Jong - MF - 86m
De Ligt - DC - 85m
Antony - AMR - 95m

So in that context it is relative to the market values we helped set for players coming from Ajax.

I recall I said we should have gone for Antony when we invested in Gustavo Maia. Goes to show what a difference 10m makes and signing purely for sporting reasons.

Who is Dean Gordon? You mean Anthony Gordon? The Everton guy? He is English first of all (add 20mil) and already in the PL (add 20mil)

Antony is playing for the best team in Dutch league, his stats are mediocre let's be honest. Entertaining player but when you are going for 100mil, you need more than that. I would say Sancho was a safer bet and look how he's flopped thus far in the PL. Huge step up and these price tags just make it harder.

I'm very dubious about buying from Eredivisie after that CL Ajax team. Bar De Ligt, most of them flopped/haven't performed to that level since.

Amazing how they still manage to sell those napkins and towels in Asia and Africa to pay for these transfers. Haven't won a big trophy in like 6 years.

United have been tremendously profitable under the Glazers from a business standpoint.

Fantastic Sponsorship deals and revenue influx.

Glazers are great at that side of the game.

They couldn't care less about trophies though as long as the business is this fruitful.

It's a super successful business from their point of view.

If it stops being good for them, they'll just sell it for 6 to 7 billion making a gigantic profit. Simple.

Plus United are desperate.. they have to spend big just to catch up

He is hardly a household name :)

You're welcome
I might be on course for an L. Thought he'd flop majorly in EPL, but so far he's on 3 goals in 3 games. His overall game is pretty bad but he still manages to produce danger cause of his speed. Too soon to make a complete judgment though. Hope everything works out for Ten Hag.
