The difference is that Messi elevates the team play.

CR7 can still be effective, but the system needs to change.

Messi is fantastic in creating of chances but you dont think his lack of workrate in relation to his successful dribblings, created chances and goals is a problem? I mean we speaking of 36 or 37 years old Messi. And after seeing the Copa24 and the last matches i dont think they need someone like Messi unlike in 2008-2020 where they clearly missed a chancing creating machine

His lack of workrate has always been there, but as long as he is fit and the pieces around him are strong (to which they are and more importantly, the players will fight hard for Messi), Messi will always be a positive.

The problem at Copa 24 can be more attributed to external factors (poor pitches and injuries)

For now, Argentina, Spain and France (the addition of Manu Kone in midfield is big).

I still need to watch more of Tuchel's England.
Nah. France is done. That generation/phase is over.

It'll be a very different team without the likes of Grizz, Giroud, Lloris, Varane, Pogba, Kante, etc.

Still got loads of talent but no guarantees that they'll gel as well as the previous teams.

Tuchel is a brilliant knockout stage tactician and England have a great squad.

I fear the combo Dembouz+Mbappe, on a good day they can win every game, too much individual brilliance

But midfield is luckily crap

We will see after semi final NL how good they really are

Yea, i was as i tend to be ahead of the pack on this one.

He's an a excellent player that would add value to any team in the world, and what would have been for a very reasonable transfer fee and wages.

The technique
Hard work
Positioning
And he's got that south American skill in his even for a DM/Box to box player.

If the club has listen to me years ago, when i made the suggestion, we would be better off right now.

Such is life.
Yeah I think so too mate. I have always thought he was good too.

Tuchel is great, but still too early to assess how he does with this England squad.

Is England really capable of winning a WC with that defence?
They have a few world class players but seems they still haven't figured out the best supporting cast. Jude, Rice, Kane are locked in, but the rest?

Many of the "favourites" lack cohesion, France and Portugal (this one easy to solve though :mou:) too.

Spain and Argentina are well oiled in comparison.

Idk about Germany but seems they are in the latter bracket as they cannot rely on superstars.

England are pretty well oiled from years of experience under Southgate. Good core which has played a lot of games together and reached semi finals and finals.

They need the extra tactical push, edge and winning mentality which is what Tuchel brings.

People don't realise how good a tactician Tuchel is in these one-off games. Bayern completely outplayed Madrid under him.

England are the 3rd team behind Spain and Argentina as of today. The Deschamps France cycle has ended. Time to refresh and rejuvenate things. Preferably with a new manager.
