Arsenal

We were very naive and we learned a lot today, I know we can beat them at their place. Our away record is as good, if not better, than our home record so it shouldn't be a problem.

Must bounce back against Crystal Palace now.

They are even better at home, they have won 8 out of their 10 last home games in the CL, one loss to marseille 3 years ago which was debatable with one draw. This season they have won every home game they have played. Of course stats really dont meant much in the end, but i wouldn't be confident especially the fixtures you play around the game at westfalen.

The worst thing one could do is let oneself be impressed by stats and records. Arsenal have been dominant in parts of the game, they should travel to Dortmund with confidence and play their game. (And yes, I suspect Dortmund will win it, but who knows).

How were they naive? The way things were going, they were right to try to attack. Just imagine if Cazorla would've scored instead of hitting the bar.

We were naive from the off. Dortmund came with a plan, they got in between the passing lanes and played on the counter-attack. We tried to play too much football (Ramsey tried to play it out of our own box but that can be categorised as an individual mistake). We got to 1-1, sometimes it's better to protect what you have. We could've played a bit more on the counter attack ourselves, but I don't think Dortmund had any intention of doing much with the ball.

Ramsey fucked up, yep.

At the start of the game, Arsenal barely even tried to play football. They were solid, took no risks and let Dortmund have the possession. Which Dortmund are useless at. A mistake by Ramsey changed things.

They could've settled for a draw after Girouds goal, sure but come on, everything in the second half suggested that they were about to score. I don't think it was naive at all. They had everything under control and kept creating chances.

As for counter attacking; They tried it at times, it's difficult when you don't have the players for it. They tried to attack in different manners, by using quick counter attacking moves and by dominating possession. None of them were wrong. They just didn't have the luck that was needed today.

This is the one thing Dortmund are pretty poor at. If you give them the ball, they run out of ideas.

Yep.

Anyway, why hasn't anyone mentioned Arteta? No pundits on my streams mentioned him, never mentioned in comment sections and not really mentioned on any other forums.

Strange, because he was just incredible today. Good to have him back, he's so calm and intelligent both on and off the ball. And he won the ball back so many times today. The real Arsenal captain.

11 tackles, 2 interceptions. :worthy:

Criminally underrated player. Everyone keeps talking about how they missed Flamini today but I doubt he could've done it any better. Arteta is still the better player.

Wenger's words go against you pEllee, he conceded that we were naive and if you can't win it's better not to lose.

Nevertheless we can still emerge from the group in top spot. We're in the most difficult position due to the places we have to go to, but it's possible.

If Arsenal are going to have even the slightest chance of winning the league then exiting the competition now is for the best. There chances of progression now are very slim.

Haha, I know, just read it. I'm not sure if I agree though, if they scored, they would've praised Arsenal for being brave. I still think it was the right thing to go for a win, even if it backfired. If they only tracked back it would've been avoided. Actually quite embarrising to see three players barely tracking back against Dortmund.

Yes, I expect them to beat Napoli again. Dortmund away will be difficult for them, extremely difficult. And they should beat Marseille at home.
