Arsenal lose: "Arsenal should learn how to grind 1-0 wins out when they're not playing well."

Arsenal play ugly and win 1-0: "Awful football, defending desperately, very lucky"

yawn.

Saying that Wilshere is average is ridiculous and, quite frankly, daft.

Given he has been injured for lord knows how long, he has done quite well for himself. I really like his style of play and hope to see him live sometime in late January - early February.

This. Couldn't have said it better my self.

Having an English passport comes with the stigma of being an unskilled footballer. Xaviniesta obviously hasn't watched Wilshere play, or he wouldn't be saying such ridiculous things.

Very few midfielders peak at a young age (Cesc & Iniesta only come to mind). The likes of Zidane, Pirlo, and even Xavi only began to show their real skills after the age of 24.

Wilshere has vision and an incredible first touch, but will need time to build consistency and maturity to truly be considered world class. That 1+ year injury certainly didn't help, but he hit the ground running and looks like he barely missed a step.

Jack Wilshere is a fantastic player for his age and inexperience not to mention he didn't play a second of football for Arsenal's first team last season so really this is only his second season as a senior player. He may not of contributed too much to final product for Arsenal this season but I genuinely believe they would be much weaker without him. As for bad tackling I don't think that is strictly true, he can be a bit hot headed sometimes and commit to tackles he really shouldn't be, which he'll be aware of but with all things considered as mentioned above and his position and role in the midfield he's not awful, he made a great tackle today tohugh it seemed as though the ref fell under Wigan's 'send him off' complaints and gave him a yellow for it, wasn't even a foul

Wilshere is not Average but media and fans make it out as if he already on par with the current best in the world (remember after first leg against us in 2011, he played very good for a youngster in that game), he has a long way to go but he does have time on his side.

What media says is irrelevant, and they're mostly just hyping their own as a countermeasure for the current dominance of Southern European and Latin Americans. What comes to fans, most of the Arsenal fans I know have never claimed him to be on par with any of the worldclass mids out there. They are claiming, however, that he has the potential to become one.

Those fans who do claim otherwise, are mostly 14-19 year olds who don't know any better.
