Nah, Vermaelen wants to fight for his place. He may have had a bad season, but he's still class, and has it in him to turn it around. This type of competition for places is a good thing. I hope we have "problems" like that in every position

Maybe he will want a move because of the WC. He was dropped against Serbia for Van Buyten only because he didn't play the last couple of months. The World Cup can influence a lot of people.

The only club he has been linked in the past couple of years has been Barca. You guys will probably end up with Hummels this summer, so Vermaelen is safe for now

hummels is not going anywhere this summer, no idea why you would think otherwise...

I thought he got injured in Belgium's last game?

I'll believe it when it's confirmed on Arsenal.com with picture evidence. Remember those 3-4 months of constant "Mata to Arsenal" news, with betting suspended and twitter transfer muppets "confirming" it? With Mourinho having no faith in Torres and Demba Ba having those dodgy knees, we could well have a repeat of history here.

Since I have a soft spot for Arsenal, I've been hoping for some early transfers from Wenger and team, but nothing really so far. I've seen really promising links such as Victor Wanyama who fits the tough centre midfield role that Arsenal need at the moment. And of course the likes of Higuain who is a top striker and deserves to be the focal point in a big team. Fingers crossed Wenger pulls his finger out and makes Arsenal a force for next season because Chelsea, City and possibly Spurs and Liverpool (probably not) will be in stronger positions to challenge Man Utd and their new era.

P.s Benteke is another forward being linked. I really like him, another perfect player for Arsenal and only 22. He has a very bright future.

That's really typical of Arsene Wenger.. Not trying to stereotype Arsenal but Benteke seems the likely choice instead of Higuain. Arsene Wenger is smarter than that he wants a good future for Arsenal.

I'd rather have Higuain than Benteke. A young striker having a great first season reminds me too much of Francis Jeffers. Better to go with a world class, well known superstar.

It's not only down to Arsenal breaking the bank for an expensive player for once. It's the fact that even if they did, Higuain probably wouldn't want to come. Arsenal simply do not have the look of an ambitious club and they are not a glorious destination for players to go to. Arsenal being willing to pay for Higuain makes it seem like it's their choice, when in fact the player normally wouldn't be very thrilled to play for them.

If Arsenal get one superstar defender and Higuain, they will be alright. Arsenal never had a good striker, all have been shit and while the midfield can go on to score goals, midfielders are streaky in goal scoring forms, which is still better than expected of them. They desperately need a world class defender though. AND Higuain.

I Managed to contact the player Mirror are reporting we’re linked with; West Brom’s 14 year old hot prospect Yan Dhanda.>

‏@AFCAcademy 52m
Dhanda - “Arsenal have no contact with West Brom, I’m going to LFC. That’s all I want anyway.”

@AFCAcademy 32m
Ok, so I have now been told a bid from Arsenal, Liverpool and City for Dhanda was accepted. Though he would still prefer a move to LFC. 1/3

@AFCAcademy 32m
He feels he can settle in easier, as he already talks with Sterling.
Although, Gareth Barry is also a close contact for a move to City. 2/3

@AFCAcademy 33m
When Wenger met with Dhanda he simply put it as it was, and ended the conversation with “I hope you make the right choice.” 3/3

@AFCAcademy 13m
To conclude: Dhanda is in talks with Arsenal, LFC & City, all 3 Bids were accepted. Tho his and his dad’s preference is a move to Liverpool.

Good to see we are competing with Arsenal for the hottest prospects in england.
