No words for this guy really... has anyone fit in so fast before bearing in mind he wasn't starting games at the start of the season.

if we win the treble and he keeps us this form, best debut season ever surely? i mean, he came from Brazilian league and has adapted seamlessly

Incredible first half. Decent second and he eventually tired so the substitution was understandable.

Arthur is getting more and more confident when he's near the final third in terms of passing. Our second goal was evidence of that. 1-2 with Messi and then he wrong-foots Lyon's defensive lines by darting the ball through into Suarez, who rolled back the years with that first touch and dribble, and then Luis gifts Coutinho a chance he couldn't miss. A bona fide Barcelona like goal.

Hopefully Arthur's stamina will revert back to what it was when he played against Real in the first leg of the Copa (when he got injured). That match he ran and tackled all 90 minutes.

Always thought it was weird dismissung his ability to play forward/dangerous passes. You cant have that situational awareness and be shit at everything else.

What a talent and player that this guy is. Fits like a glove and exactly the type of midfielder that our midfield was screaming for during the past few seasons. Verratti who?

It has to be said Robert and Andre Curry struck gold with Arthur. Obviously he was highly rated in Brazil and came off a MoM performance in the Copa Conquistadores ( ) but nevertheless it was a brilliant move.

I was never in doubt about him not succeeding. With such a unique profile at Barça of all teams, you are bound to succeed if you have your head screwed on right.

The best player after Messi yesterday night.

When he had subbed off he had the most passes on the pitch, and he runs more km per game than Rakitic/Busquets easily too. Created multiple big chances, was playing dagger passes to Messi and co. all night. Incredible player, and impossible to dispossess or force into silly errors.

People talk a lot about how we don't have "off ball movement" from the front 3 or in general. That is correct, however, no one is in a good position to move off ball when they are receiving a pass from the likes of Rakitic who gets the ball, turns, and immediately dumps the pass off. In that situation, the opposition defense hasn't shifted at all, and there isn't any pocket of space for X player to move into. No one has room to move in a static setup.

With Arthur, he carries the ball and draws the defender. That motion causes everyone in the vicinity to move/adjust their position and that is where pockets of space are created for the runners to move into. That's why players look so open off the ball all the time when Messi is on it. It's the same with Arthur, and that is why he is so crucial and unique in our midfield. There's literally not a single other midfielder we have who does this.
