I think we don't need to be too worry about him, there are reasons why he seemed to not playing as well the last two games
In Betis match, he played as lowest midfield with Vidal up top. It's his unusual position so it's understandable that he wasn't too comfortable in that position.
In Espanyol match there was no fight in the midfield at all so his usual role wasn't really necessary. He tried to go forward more but the teammates seemed to not used to have him close to final third therefore he rarely received the ball there.

Terrible on Saturday, what is he giving us at this point? We desperately need someone with some creative flair in the midfield, I wish Coutinho could fill that role.

Even though, each player has pros and cons and matches where he thrives and where he struggles with his set of skills.
Pacey wingers are usually way better with more free space to run to.
Arthur is good in matches like against Roma, where the opponents are pressing us and where we struggle to get the ball out of our half.
On the other hand, in the 2nd half against Espanyol where they defended with 11 players and where we had 10 field players in their half, Arthur's strengths are not useful.
We didn't need to get the ball out of our box, we had possession all the time no matter what and we didn't need to pass it from left to right in "controller's fashion"
2nd half against Espanyol was a moment for Busi or Raki plus 2 attacking minded, creative, risky CAMs like Coutinho, Alena, Rafinha or even Denis Suarez or even some 424 formations.
Agree with you here, Arthur always seems to be a bit invisible against sit back opponents.
It's not that he plays badly against them. He just does his job without much challenge and his role isn't really needed in the situations.

Arthur is actually useful against teams who sit back the whole game. As a starter he is part of the group who tires the opponent out until they get more prone to mistakes. When you want to win such games you have to apply relentless pressure for 60 mins and then go for the kill in the last half hour.

None of our players is good against buses. Even Messi struggles. It's because of Valverde's completely static tactics. Singling out Arthur about this is disingenuous.

Exactly lol..... cos Busi and Rakitic are great against buses.........
They might not be great at unlocking buses, but they are great to allow others to do so by staying back all the time.
Their purpose is to win the ball back and play it simple to someone more creative.

Definitely agree that’s Busi’s role (and Raki’s last season when he was a 2nd CDM in an4-4-2)... but Rakitic’s attacking input over the last few seasons hasn’t been good enough.
