if he's 22 now and looking like this, what's he gunna be when he's 29-30. 16 stone central midfielder playmaker

arthur and coutinho is reminding me of the fabio rochemback and geovanni days lol#
overhyped brazlian players, spent a fortune on but turned out to be rookie players.

i kid you not everytime vidal comes on for arthur, team improves, everytime coutinho goes off for any player , the team improves.

Messi and Busquests and Pique will know this.

It's almost like Vidal always comes in with just 20-30min on the clock so he can run tired opponents to the ground.

I think it is no accident. Vidal is ideal when we need an energy spark and the will of the opponent is barely hanging on. He is a great player to give you all out effort for 35 minutes. Meanwhile I think Arthur's best use is the first 65 when we want a but more control, limit mistakes, and have opponents get tired by chasing and pressing without much to show for it. Good combo IMO.

Needs a kick in the ass.

This might seem unfair, but he showed such a great potential in the first half of the season that he became a huge hope and factor for Barça's CL chances right away. Now he's underperforming at the worst possible period.

It's also true that we have to remember that he's still a kid who arrived from Brazil 8 months ago.

Just my opinion but no he doesn't need a kick in the pants, more an affirmation of his quality and support. He has had two overuse related injuries, and he is a smart and committed player to the team I think. Just make sure he gets the right balance of playing time, rest and keep feeding his confidence while he finishes out the most intense season he has ever been a part of.

I have mentioned this a few times in the past, but people don't want to hear it.
Arthur looks somewhat chubby for a 22-23 years old player.
Also, even though he is young, imo, he is quite slow and has weak stamina.

Now, since majority of people do gain more weight over years, it is a legitimate question:
1. whether Arthur will be somewhat fat in 2-3-4 years?
2. will he be even way slower than now?
3. will he have even weaker stamina when he'll age?

Just a comparison, when our other current CM Rakitic was aged around 22:
1. he was a skinny, light kid
2. he was way faster than today when he is quite slow for the last 4-5 years
3. he had way stamina than this current, old 30+ years old Rakitic

So, if a skinny, light and fast kid Rakitic, who played as a Cf, Cam and a winger when he was 22, turned into a slow, tired turtle after the age of 27, is it that crazy to raise some concerns about Arthur's future regarding his physical skills?

I thought Arthur improved his stamina already with Barca. He is always running the most and then subbed. Coutinho has the same issues.

Being slightly "chubby" isn't unfixable for professional athletes, i mean even you and me can easily lose some weight in a short time so i guess it should be doable for someone working with experts on a daily basis. So if we make this out as an issue it can be worked on, so he should be able to improve right?

Besides that, it's not like every player will automatically rapidly decline on the physical side in mid-late 20's. Especially if we talk about players that are already on the slower side to begin with. Kroos for example was always quite slow even when he played more advanced earlier in his career and i never noticed a huge drop with him when it comes to speed or mobility.

but he was actually slim and fast in the start of season but it looks like he put on weight and now is similar to his gremio weight. What a shame, don't hope he has the brazil fatty syndrome

Doesn't matter that much anyways, he's got the next 2 years to work on his weight as our midfield starters are going to be Busi en Frenki ;)

Imagine if we'd have a 22 year old Raki. He would be barcaforum favourite for sure but people would complain because EV would probably play Vidal ahead of him.

I thought he was very good in first half. Essential in us controlling the possession.
What heppened in 2nd half, can't tell as I missed large chunks of it.

Was the only midfielder in first half not shitting his pants from that overloaded United midfield. Always in movement, always available to receive a ball. However, he isn't the same he was before his injury.

He can improve his stamina, play-making skills and his long pass. He's still a top midfielder based on his ball retention, movement, and ability to hold off pressing and evade tackles, important things at which he is probably the best in the world at, or at least one of the best.

Most of the times, people have unreasonable expectations from him, expecting him to do every thing right. Sure, it would've been perfect to have his existent qualities, and on top of that be 1.87 and a pack of muscles, fast as hell, have Messi's passing range, and maybe even shoot like Ronaldo.

He's by no means a top midfielder, you can think he can compete with the likes of De Bruyne and Bernado Silva? No chance.

He's a bare bones version of Thiago, people are overhyping because for he can play a bit of football.
